We have an Animal Kingdom Value room for September 22-29th, and today I received in the mail a MyMagic+ invite. I don't know whether to be excited or to run for the hills. Can you help me decide?

Here are my main questions:
1. If we get the magic bands and hook our AP up to the bands, will our AP cards work in the regular fast pass machines?
2. Will i still get a room key if we get the magic bands? Will the room key work in the fast pass machines even though I won't be using it to enter the park?

I'm seeing the potential to either be stuck with 3 measely Fast passes or possibly the chance to get regular ones too, i don't want to just have the three fast plus passes per day.

3. If you've participated in the test and could do it over, would you still participate, it seems I mostly am reading horror stories.

Thanks!

I was on the phone with IT yesterday doing something unrelated, but asked the cast member about getting regular fast passes too. She said yes you are still able to use your tickets in the parks for additional fast passes.

Awesome! That's what I wanted to hear.

I think for now, as long as you still have a phyical AP card, you can use it to get FP. In the future when everything ( room key and park ticket) is on the waistband, we will be stuck with 3 FP per day rule.

If you accept the test offer, the will send you the magic band and you won't get a room key card. If you do not want to participate on the test. You will get the KTTW card, I think right now you can use your room key AND your AP card to get FP, so you will be able to get twice as many FPs.

I think this will be the last time you can take advantage of the FP system, so I would not sign up for the test if I were you.

If you sign up for the test you will STILL get a KTTW unlike pp stated as a back up (at least every other person I know of has) so you should be able to try the magicband, the FP+, and pull a FP with your KTTW and your AP possibly as we'll so in effect double Dipping FP with a side of FP+!

Enjoy your trip. Are you in jambo or Kidani

Ok so here is my thing. Lets say with this next round of tests, I found out that we can do it by accident and never revived a invite, you don't get a KTTW card. How would you pay at a sit down. I am also wondering how they are going to handle my CA issued (that's what MDE called it) premier pass since we don't have anything like this out here at Disneyland. Well anyway I am excited to get my Blue Magicband. I can't wait to see it in the mail. Oh and cause we have a split stay we are getting two sets if bands cause we have a 4 night cruise in the Dream in the middle of the trip. So we have two different reservations. So will I need both bands or will one do? Should be fun and interesting. Oh and I have till 8/31 to customize the first set and 9/8 the second set.

Every sit down we went to in July had a little sensor thing attached to an iphone/ipod touch that they brought out to the table. We had to tap our card at the time, but we could have just as easily tapped a wrist band.

Good to know thanks. My first set of bands came today. No instructions or anything. I would love know if these are waterproof. Like if I forget to take it off to go swimming or go to the water parks will it get damaged? I got no info at all.

MagicBands are waterproof, but will not float.

Not that I don't believe you, but do you know this first hand or is it second hand info? I am just trying to get all the info. It came with absolutely zero info.

Disney has said that they are waterproof.

There is a piece of paper under the tray that directs you to MyDisneyExperience.com. Not much instructions are necessary. They are active out of the box and nothing will be done to them in regards to resort check-in. Just about everything else that needs to be linked or booked will be done using MDX.

That's good info. I would have never have thought of looking under the tray. It would have been nice to know. Oh and if nothing is done at check in how would it open my room if I don't give them my band? Also I need to see someone to link my Premier Pass as the MDE does not recognize it.

Nothing is stored on the MagicBand except for a unique band id number. The band is linked to your MDX profile using that band id. All of your entitlements are also linked to your MDX profile. These entitlements can be your room reservation, park admission and FastPass+ times. When your band is scanned, the appropriate entitlement is verified and entry is either allowed or denied.

As for your Premier Passport, I think you need to contact Disney IT for assistance.

Thanks for the info. You have been helpful. I still don't get how it knows my room since I am not there. I guess in about 3 1/2 weeks I will know. As for my pass, from what I am starting to understand is I need to hit up Guest Relations. They have new RFID Premier Passes. Then that should link to my band. Only time will tell.

I understand the concept with the FP. I don't get the parade, fireworks, seating. Does that mean there will be chairs for people who signed up? Where do people watch from who do not participate with the reservation system for this? We are going in November, no idea if it will be a choice or a must do by then.

They are "roped off" VIP-like areas with limited capacity. Just a decent place that you can walk up to 5-10minutes before the show, get a decent spot, and not be packed in like sardines.

Thank you for that clarification. I haven't been on the boards much this summer. Too busy working. But,will be catching up on reading them soon. Hopefully, before our next trip in November!
