Not sure if its been asked... Its well known that you can link a credit card to the magic bands, just like the KTTW cards... my questions is can you link gift cards to it? We have quite a few gift cards from family and friends that we've collect over the year (birthdays etc.) ((everyone knows we go once a year, so this is the best gift people can get us.))

If I wanted to link them to my bands can I do that rather then carry them around with me?

Ours seems to have gotten all screwed up when we split a stay and added a reservation. We today received our 4th package of Magicbands, LOL! My PAP still isn't showing correctly ( it is reversed with nephew's ticket #). Husband's ticket was there but now it is gone (he still has a PAP voucher at this point)

Some think the bands will all work interchangeably but I am very skeptical and anticipate hours spent on property ( x3 for each hotel check in) fixing this mess.

I have 8, yes 8 boxes of magic bands sitting on my kitchen floor and there are more on the way. We have 11 people in our travel party and have multiple room reservations for the trip. I am estimating that I may have close to 50 bands in my possession by the time it is all said and done.

I am concerned as well. I also fear that there may be huge lines to resolve these problems since the testing has been expanded to all resorts/DVCs.

When you go into MDE - click on Manage my magic bands. Scroll down to the bottom. There should be a list of each person that you "manage" and in mine - there are some that I don't manage (not sure why). There will be images of each magic band. If you click on it, you can see the ID number for that band which is located on the inside of the band. You can identify the bands and "deactivate" them. I am going to contact Disney and determine if I makes sense to deactivate all but the ones that I bring on the trip. Maybe someone else can add to this and give us advice. I am afraid to call Disney IT right now as I was on hold for lengthy times last week. Once I get al of the bands, I will call for advice.

if we make a room only reservation for October 27th, with the issues with the magic bands/tickets/ FP+ going on, will it screw up our vacation planned the first of December?

I have seen where people with split stays or multiple reservations are having the most trouble. I was thinking we could make the reservation under my husband's name using a different MDE account, but then our tickets would get dragged onto the separate account. Right?

I don't think you need to worry about it messing up your December visit. You can always book a room in a resort that is not testing MBs during your one night stay. By Oct 27, I think that would only be non-Disney resorts, however, not sure. (Swan and Dolphin)

I would definitely NOT link your AP to your DH account unless that is the account you plan to use in December. It seems the switching of accounts, or multiple accounts, is causing many of the problems.

Some may not feel as confident as I do, but I truly believe if you book for October, link your AP to MDE, like you would in December, the only issue will be customizing a second set of MBs for your December trip, if DW IT hasn't worked that issue out by then.

Go, have fun, and no worries! :thumbsup2

But the KTTW card " showing" in MDE were from an August trip. A trip where we never had MBs and never linked our PAPs to any KTTW card. So, it makes no sense at all that those would show up in MDE 4 weeks after travel.

And, if what you are saying is rue, then all old KTTW cards will show up there. So, after this trip, I'll have 6 KTTW card from old trips showing up?!?!

To update on the saga, two more MBs showed up today. We'll see how this all goes!

I have been a few days in March, June and September and all three of those KTTW card numbers are showing as 'active' under the MagicBands and CArds section...

I actually don't know if they are linking credit cards directly yet. You can put a credit card in your profile, but I haven't yet heard if you can charge to it via the MagicBand. Only resort guests are getting them so far, so they can link them to the room for charging.

I also haven't heard about being able to link gift cards.

But if staying on-site, you can "pre-pay" your room charges with gift cards, then charge to the room.

Don't know about gift cards, but I have read posts from recent guests that were able to make purchases with their MB. You just need to remember the PIN you set up to verify the purchase.:scratchin

But were they charged to the room, or directly to a credit card? The former is definitely happening.

For right now, since only resort guests are the ones using the MBs, it is technically charged to the room, so there is a receipt (on the room detail) for the purchase. The lag time between being charged and appearing on the CC tied to the room, I do not know.

If the MBs will eventually be made available for off site guests, which sounds like the next step, I can't see Disney not linking CCs and MBs. I've already seen reports on how people spend more when they use the MBs, so of course Disney will go that way... :rotfl:

Right, which was my point. Only room charging now. But Disney DID announce that for off-site guests, touch-to-pay would be possible, and that would need to go directly to a credit card, or they establish a "room-charge" type account with your profile which THEN goes to the credit card.

You know that's smart about pre-paying room charges. I think I might do that to cover meal tips and such. Of course that will probably also make spending money even easier knowing that it is there.

I'm sure they will enable charging to card directly. But there are differences between charging straight to card or charging to room which is then paid by card.

in the past (so I asssume it's still the same)- Disney would give you a 'credit limit' for your room charge. Hypothetically call it $1,000. (they'll tell you at check in if you ask). When you get to 1,000 or checkout then they nail your card. Rather than 50 charges of 20 bucks you would only see a single charge of ~1,000 to your card. If your credit card happens to close in the middle of your stay and you can procrastinate hitting your credit card tilll after the close you get ~55 days to pay the credit card bill instead of ~25. Another month to hold onto your cash...

Smart! remembering this for next time

So we're staying at WL from 10/16-10/22. Last Friday, after checking every day for weeks, I was able to customize our Magicbands and make FP+ choices. *Happy Dance!!*

:yay:

According to the site we had until 9/15 to customize. Our bands shipped on Monday and arrived yesterday.

*Hooray!!*

:woohoo:

Then tonight UPS arrives with an overnight package. In it is our invitation to participate in MyMagic+ saying we have until 10/5 to customize.

:confused3

This amuses me.

But yay! Disney! Magic Bands! Hooray!

(They are pretty awesome.)

So I was looking over the color choices...

I thought in original pic there was a purple?
However it's not a choice.. :confused3:

There are several people saying cast members told them that purple was coming. Hoping soon. My wife would like to have purple for our November visit.

I hope so too! It kinda stinks having two girls and only one girly color..
DD(7) settled for blue :-(
However DH wanted blue so he took gray :-(

We did not want double colors.. Too confusing, even with the names on the back

I wonder why purple was not released with others?
