I can't figure this out. I want to stay for 11 nights, I want dining and I need tickets for 10 days. Is there anyway to do this? Can I book 4 days with dining at POR, 7 days with dining at ASMo, but get 1 - 10day ticket.

The timing isn't working out to book a room only at the beginning or end. I would end up trying to check in at night after Spectro with 2 tired little kids if I booked room only in the beginning, and I wanted to schedule a character meal with the dining plan on our last day so room only at the end isn't optimal either. I just don't understand why Disney wouldn't want me to stay for more days -- if I can't get a reasonable price, I'll only stay 10 days.

I need this extra day because we are going to spend a day at Seaworld which I have never done before. Since I am not at all familiar with Seaworld are hotels, I just wanted to stay at Disney.

Yes you can do that. When I was checking out prices on line they do have an option as to how many days your want on your park tickets. You get dining for the number of days you stay in the hotel.

I did notice however that the price difference for each additional day goes down considerably the more days you add. There was only a $5 -10 difference between the 7 and 8 day ticket. I am staying for 8 nights but coming in late so I only need 7 days at the parks. I was able to book that without problem.

Not correct!

The dining is based on the number of nights at your hotel.

I am going to re-phrase my question.

Can I book 4 days Dec5-8 at POR with dining and a 10 day ticket, then book 7 days at ASmo Dec 9 -16 with dining but no ticket.

to buy a 4 day ticket and a 6 day ticket costs almost double, whereas the difference between a 4 day ticket and a 10 day ticket is negligible.

If i add room only on Dec 5, no tickets, no dining. then do dec 6 -15 with dining, with 10 day expiring ticket, can I start using the ticket on Dec 5?

if i add room only to the end, so dec 5 - 14 with dining with 10 day ticket, then room only on dec15, can i use the ticket on dec 16?

Yes you can order 10 day tickets (you will want the expiring kind) with the first package (4 or however many days) although you will need to order some kind of ticket with the second package -- perhaps one day basic to be expanded on a future vacation or maybe even 10 day expiring ready to begin its 14 day usage lifespan on your next vacation.

If you need eleven theme park days, using up a 10 day expiring ticket and also using your one day is not a waste of money.

If you book room only [for Dec. 5] and book your package with tickets to start later you may not get your tickets early for use on Dec. 5 etc.

If you book the package with tickets to start first you may keep using the tickets past checkout, into your second resort stay [Dec. 16 etc.] (subject to the 14 day lifespan if not non-expiring.)

We are in the same situation with 11 nights. This is the best/ most economical way we found. (And yes as mentioned earlier you have to have at least a 1 day park ticket to have the dining included with your resort stay; and yes the dining is based on your number of nights not on the park tickets.)

So we are at AKL for 7 nights with dining plan and have a 10 day expiring park ticket;
Then we move to Poly for 4 nights with dining and have a 1 day expiring park ticket.

It can be a little confusing. The other thing I had to get my head around is that the since the dining is based on my nights I had to make sure my dining coincided with this. In other words I am doing a few 2 credit meals so had to make sure this worked in with my number of nights at EACH resort and not worked out based on the total 11 days. Hope that makes sense. ;)

Thanks for your help.

There are four people in my party. If I do 4 day stay with 10 day expiring ticket and meal plan, followed by a 7 day stay with meal plan and 1 day ticket -- do I need to buy tickets for all 4 of us? Or can I buy just 1 one day ticket? I don't need 11 days of tickets because I plan to do 1 day at Seaworld (and depending on my flight times I may need even less than 10 days)

No.
In order to be eligible to purchase the Dining Plan, you must book a package. A package, in Disney-speak, is a hotel room AND a ticket.
You must purchase the same ticket for each person on your reservation (however, on arrival, you can upgrade/customize each person's tickets).
This requirement is based on individual hotel reservations, NOT the full length of your visit.
You could purchase a ten day ticket for each person in conjunction with your POR reservation, and a one day ticket for each person to go with your ASMovies reservation.

Thanks for your help. It seems to me that it is in no way cost effective to stay 11 days. Even if I save the extra ticket for another trip -- won't it still be an expensive 1 day ticket that I am using in conjunction with a new package?

I wonder why disney is making it so hard to stay an extra day? I'll probably just stick with 10 days. The extra expense combined with the probability of having to switch rooms just makes that extra day not worth it.
