Yeah, it's not much...first of all we price LOW so people will buy. Our priority is getting rid of stuff. Secondly, this yard sale we didn't have any large items to sell (just toys, clothes and a few household items). Also, we do a yard sale each year for the kids' sake. I'd much rather clean house and donate the items, but the yard sale is great for the kids. It gives them incentive to get rid of unneeded toys, it teaches them to make change, how to treat customers, and just plain work ethics. It's a great family experience--something we can all do together. They love having a lemonade stand and selling cookies. Since we live in a cul-de-sac we don't get traffic for a lemonade stand unless we hold a yard sale! Anyway, I am pleased.
We hold a small yard sale each summer. We go out for about five hours for one Saturday morning and usually make about $100 - 150.00. We are thrilled with the extra cash and extra room in the garage. We spend about 1 1/2 hours tagging stuff (with four of use working on it). We don't expect to make 100's of dollars, we are very content with our little windfall.
