Some of you may know I've been going through a bit of a bad patch with my redundancy happening last week
Well, Saturday was my (cough)nd birthday and my lovely DH Darryl and friends had arranged a surprise party for me in the afternoon in our garden.
My friend Mandy and I went out "shopping" for her wedding in the morning (I'll never trust anyone again, you know
) and when we got back there was everyone waiting for me - hiding in the bushes and trees in our garden.
They'd been working like beavers all morning preparing the food and garden - it was so lovely I'm afraid I cried
(but I had my sunglasses on, so do you think anyone would have noticed!).
Unfortunately the rains came, but it didn't dappen our enjoyment at all, we just went inside.
I can't believe how sneeky everyone was - my friends were saying to me on Friday - oh, are you in tomorrow, I'll pop around and see you - even my best friend in Ascot phoned in the morning to say she was just dashing out to work, but would phone later to have a proper girly chat . . . and then turned up with he DDs - wonderful.
I'm lucky to be blessed with some extra special friends and loved ones around me . . . but I still don't know how they kept it quiet for so many months
Sorry to go on, but I'm still smiling about it now and it's nice to hear good things happening, I thought
