I wouldn't mind a family friendly venue, as long as all clubs didn't participate in this, especially Pat O'Brien's. We love that there is no one under 21 allowed after 9 pm in Pat O'Brien's piano bar section. With Pleasure Island allowing children into the clubs, we think it's lost its edge, and hardly go there any more.
I totally agree. We love Pat O's, but we prefer the patio. The year we took my 18 yr. old (at the time) nephew with us, Kenneth & I went to Pat O's by ourselves & still chose the patio. The piano bar should stay just as it is. I was thinking more along the lines of Bonkerz being PG13 rated a couple nights a week. I don't even know what time they open, but maybe they could do an early & a late show twice a week. The late show would be adults only. If the 1st show would have to be too early (prior to dinner time), perhaps they could have one family friendly show a week. Not even on the weekend, but maybe on a Wed. or Thur. When I say family friendly, I'm thinking of the families with kids that are too old for the kid's club, but are too young for the clubs. It would be nice for those of us with kids between the age 13 & 18 to have some entertainment options in the evening. Who wants to go to a movie, when you have 3 theaters within 15 minutes of your house?
BTW, PI has always allowed kids in. Only Mannequins was 21 or older. There has always been kids at The Comedy Warehouse, & in the RnR Beach Club. We've occasionally seen them in The Adventurer's Club also. Most people with preteens & younger teens would go to the 1st couple shows at CW, then leave before the crowd got happy.

I think it's a case of Disney promoting it more to families now, which is bringing in younger kids. We used to never see a stroller or even a kid under 12 or so. IMHO, most of PI is no place for kids. We've seen some very shady transactions going on there.

There is an excellent improv comedy club located in Downtown Orlando if you don't mind the short drive. It's Sak Comedy Lab.
www.sak.com It's clean, family friendly improv done several nights per week.
I've heard great things about Sak's. This is exactly what I'd like to see come to UO. When we go to Universal, we never get back in our car until it's time to leave. I would like to go there sometime though.
IMHO, it's a shame that Universal targets the preteen/ teen crowd & their parents, but most of the evening entertainment @ CW is for adults. The entertainment in the hotels & hotel restaurants is either for adults (Velvet Sessions), or better suited to younger kids (character meals). The Luau works for all ages, but it's only one night a week. Everytime we've tried to attend the Dive-in movie it's been cancelled. Even if it wasn't they have to show movies for all age groups, which means the above mentioned age group usually thinks they're kiddie movies. It's basically impossible to choose a movie that works for a 5 yr. old & a 16 yr. old. Not UO's fault. That's just the way it is.
Rant over! Actually, I'm not even ranting, just wishing.
