Friday, April 7 I walked from the Studios to Epcot and timed it with a stopwatch. Here is what I found...all times are from the turnstiles at the Studios:

To Jellyrolls: 13 minutes

To ESPN: 17 minutes

To the turnstiles at the IG of Epcot: 21 minutes

To the entrance of Soarin': 28 minutes.

A couple of notes: I'm a very fast walker and I was by myself. No kids, no senior citizens, no strollers, no bags. So please adjust accordingly for your own situation. Also, there was no one at the entrance to Epcot so I was not slowed down by bag check or finger scan backups.

Directions to walk from Studios: head out toward the buses and look for bus station #4. Walk past station #4 on the sidewalk for a few hundred feet. You'll be walking behind a row of benches. When you get to the end of that sidewalk there will be a sign leading you down toward a path along the water. The sign says "Walkway to Boardwalk" or something like that.

Be aware that it is a VERY warm walk. There is little to no shade.

I enjoy doing that sort of thing too. Usually I go with my family and don't get to indulge.

Last month I was at WDW on a business trip. On arrival day I spent some time at Epcot, then walked to MGM to do a couple things. On the way back I decided to time myself, walking as fast as I could (no jogging). The result: 14 min 13 sec gate to gate, MGM to Epcot International Gate.

That included a small delay due to a mistake in finding the shortest route through BWV to the Boardwalk, so I'll call it an even 14 minutes. It sounds like you walked all the way to the end of the Boardwalk, which would have added 2 or 3 minutes onto your time. Plus it doesn't sound like you were trying for your best time like I was.

I am not a race-walker; a serious race walker probably could do it in around 10 minutes. I think I was doing about 5 mph, maybe a little more.

It was a warm day (80-ish) but not at all humid. If it were I would have taken a boat or bus!

We stay at BWV every trip and it is being about to walk to the studios and Epcot that I stay here....

We also love staying in the Epcot resort area because it is so easy to get to either Epcot or the Disney Studios. If you are tired you always have the backup of the Friendship boats. One word of warning.......last June on arrival day my DS and I started walking from the BWI to the Studios. It started drizzling a little so we stopped at the game center/Town Hall....whatever it is called around one of the quiet pools. After a short stay we continued our walk. Of course, as we approached the underapass it started raining hard so we took off. By the time we got to the underapss it let up and almost stopped so we proceeded. Now we are at about the halfway point to the Studios and it started to rain like crazy. Since there was no thunder or lightning we got under a tree which helped for a few minutes. After that we were soaked so my DS said we might as well continue to walk to the park entrance. Of course it stopped as we got there. Completely soaked head to foot. We had to leave those sneakers in the room a couple of days to dry out.
Moral to the story.....watch the skies closesly as there is little cover available to the Studios except for the underpass.
