Hi everyone! This is my very first trip report! :D
We booked our trip through Dreams Unlimited and my agent was Michelle H. (You guys she is just wonderful!)

Cast:
Me Kathy (31) Disney fanatic and obsessive planner
Husband Richard (35) Skeptic about trusting Dreams Unlimited with our travel plans. Loves Disney but hasn't been for 12 years. (Very hard to please by the way)
Daughter Shelley (10) This trip was totally for her birthday celebration (at least that's our grown up excuse when you get "that look" from co-workers) She is wearing an air cast on her leg so we have to rent a wheelchair everyday.

Dates: 10/27/01 through 11/101

Resort: Caribbean Beach, Room 3246, Trinidad North

Package: Discovery Magic

Day 2: Animal Kingdom and MNSSHP

We had PS for Donald's Restaurantosaurus character breakfast. Our PS was for 8:30 and the park didn't open until 9:00. Important tip: Buses marked "Character Breakfast" start running at 7:30 every morning so don't worry, you will always be able to make those early PS times. When we arrived at AK, there was a line strictly for the character breakfast customers. There was a table with a printout of the PS list and as soon as you checked in, you were taken inside in groups and walked to the restaurant. The buffet was good and the characters did a good job of making it around to each table fairly quickly. The total was $58.06 (we used another Magical Wish for this meal).
We rode the Dinosaur ride first (my poor aching neck!) and then rode the Kali River Rapids. It was about 10:00 am now and the park had very few people in it. We walked onto everything and the Fastpass machines were covered because there was no need to use them on anything. In fact, when we rode the Kali River Rapids, the CMs were asking everyone to ride again because there was no line! We decided not to because some cold front had swept in and it was in the 50s. (Brrrrrrrrr). We next saw the Tarzan Rocks show (very entertaining but Tarzan could use a tan!) Next was Tough To Be A Bug. Hilarious 3-D show. By this time, Shelley, who got completely soaked on KRR was literally shivering. We decided to go back to the resort for lunch at the food court and a nap so that we could stay up late to attend MNSSHP until midnight. (Besides Richard and I's feet were killing us already)
We had Mickey wake us up in time to go to our 6:00pm PS at Liberty Tree Tavern. The MK looked awesome with the Halloween decorations! We traded our tickets in for armbands at the gate and walked to LTT as everyone was leaving the park. We had our best meal of the vacation here. Richard wants to know why there are no restaurants at home that will bring the buffet to your table for you! He said: Finally some real food and not that gourmet crap! (I hate to say it, but I agreed. We have simple tastes) The steak and mashed potatoes were yummy! The characters all came around dressed in their Halloween costumes (Shelley, by the way, was dressed as Zorro - it's a tomboy thing). Our dinner total came out to $74.31 (Another Magical Wish).
After eating, the MNSSHP started! It was wonderfully themed and ended up being the thing that Richard enjoyed the most! We first rode the Haunted Riverboat Ride, then we trick-or-treated on our way to our favorite rides. There were very few people in the park and we literally walked on to every ride! We rode all of the major rides, enjoyed the special fireworks, and watched the 10:30pm parade. By the way, it was so uncrowded, that we sat on a bench across from the train station to watch the show and there was hardly anyone else around! We limped to the bus stop at midnight, wondering how we would walk tomorrow. Thank goodness we decided to skip breakfast in the morning and sleep in! Tomorrow is EPCOT!

How were the characters dressed for Halloween in the LTT? Just curious.

Hollywood and Vine dinner.......good food and more to our tastes......thanks so much for posting.......

sounds like LTT is just like Garden Grill. can someone confirm that?

thanks for the post on the second day. i've been wondering if MNSSHP was worth it and I think it is.

Another great day! :) Thanks for the tip about the character breakfast busses. We also have an 8:30 am PS for the CB at the Animal Kingdom. Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern sounds great! We're doing lunch there, hopefully it's as good as the dinner you described.

Beth

Yes, the LTT and Garden Grille are very similar as far as they bring the "all you can eat" to your table.
Liberty Tree had: Steak, Turkey, Ham, Dressing, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, and Mac N Cheese. Dessert is purchased separately unless you are using a "Magical Wish" under the Discovery Magic Plan, then dessert is included. They offered Bread Pudding, Scone Topped With Assorted Berries, and Chocolate Cake.

Garden Grille had: Steak, Plantain Fried Catfish, Turkey, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Carrots. They had a special skillet for the children of chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese.

They were both the best food we had, but again, we have very simple taste in food and love "home style" cooked food rather than fancy gourmet type dishes.

The Halloween costumes of the characters were: Dale was a bat, Minnie was a ghost, Pluto was a pumpkin, and Chip was a spider. The costumes were not very elaborate, mostly a themed mask fit over the eyes only and a matching apron. They were cute though.

Thanks for all of the kind replies to my first report!

We'll have to try LTT on our next visit, so many places to eat at, so little time.......

Hey, IMADISNEY....can you tell me more about the Magic Wishes? We're going in 23 days (can't believe it) on a DM package and I'd like to know what all the current "wishes" are. That is, exactly what you can use them on. Do you still have a list? I'm specifically interested in the merchandise they offer as "wishes". What was it and did you think it was nice stuff?
Mandie

I have my Discovery Magic booklet here with me. It says:

"DDM vacation package includes 2 Magical Wishes features per person per night, which are redeemable for any item listed in this guide. All Magical Wishes features are combined into a central account for maximum flexibility. These Magical Wishes features may be used at any time during your package stay, by any person in the party. To determine the beginning number of Magical Wishes features available to your party, take the number of nights you are staying on the package, multiply by the number of guests in your party, then multiply by 2. For example:
4 nights x 3 guests x 2 Wishes = 24 Wishes
The DDM plan is convenient to use. Just show your Key to the World ID card to the host or hostess and let them know you are on the plan. (Each receipt they give you, by the way, will show the number of remaining wishes at the bottom so you can easily keep track)

Magical Wishes can be redeemed for:
Dining, Breakfast: 1 juice, 1 entree, 1 hot beverage, and 1 bakery item per person OR 1 full breakfast buffet.

Have a great trip!

Recreation,

Thanx so much Disney. That really helps us. Now we can plan what to use our wishes on ahead of time. Most of it sounds like nice stuff too. Those picture packages are worth near $30! Very cool!

OH, DISNEY....how do you know WHERE to get some of these wishes? For example...the merchandise. The AK Timepiece is pretty specific, but a photo album and pin....they are all OVER the World. Some of the things on the list are pretty vaque. Does it also list the stores you find these items in?

The merchandise is all available at all of the resort gift shops. There are pictures of the specific photo albums, frames, and pins in the guide you will get when you check in. I booked my trip with Dreams Unlimited and received my booklet a two weeks before my trip with all of my trip documents. I also received another one upon check-in to the resort.
The picture frame is a 4x6 bronze tone frame with Mickey on the cover (it folds closed like a book). It does not give detail on the pin, only that it a finely detailed antique pin with the same design (maybe it looks bronze?)
Hope this answered your questions.

Great! That does help. I will anxiously await my package. It should be here soon.
Thanx.
