Please bear with me!
SO as I write this, it is 29 days until we leave. I CAN'T WAIT! We will have had it planned for FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY DAYS! That is considering it planned on the day we arrived to WDW last time.
For my husband and I, it will be our third trip together.... my 5th to WDW. The last trip we took to WDW, 9/30/06-10/6/07 (I think) was a little less than magical to say the least. We were originally scheduled to go the week before that, for my birthday (which is 9/25). We were supposed to leave on 9/23.... and I was admitted to the hospital on 9/21. I had not felt well for months, but on 9/20 something seemed very, very wrong, as I had what looked like broken capillaries all over my skin... and on 9/21 when I went to see my doctor, he sent me straight away to the ER. I was diagnosed with a blood disorder that could have killed me at the time. And all I could think about was missing Disney! lol. I bawled my EYES OUT when they told me they were admitting me. I was heartbroken. We had booked with free dining and couldn't afford it at the time otherwise.... but LUCKILY (I thought), Disney was fantastic about everything. They re-booked us for the following week, we were able to get the free dining by checking in by 9/30, and even changed the dates on our MNSSHP tickets. I was thrilled that we were able to go--and don't get me wrong, it's Disney! It was still fantastic--but I was really sick the entire time. I was discharged from the hospital on a Sunday and we left for Disney on a Thursday. My body was still covered in petichiae (the things that look like broken capillaries) and bruises, and my arms literally ached me where the bruises were and IVs had been driving down. I became rather acquainted with Celebration Hospital.
As soon as we arrived, I told my husband that we would take another magical January trip in 2008. He said "yeah, right. how are we going to save up for that?"
He came around rather quickly because we both love Disney so much, and we've been counting down since we got home
I still have a lot of health problems... one of my doctors wanted to schedule a surgery around the time we are going to Disney this time!
I said NO WAY, I will deal with the pain and it can wait until Spring Break, tyvm
As you can see, it's an extra special trip... Not only was I SICK last time BUT....
1) The first time we went, I weighed 260 lbs. The second time we went, when I was sick, I weighed 300 (I had already lost 40ish lbs from my highest of 341) . NOW I weigh 195 and I'm hoping for 185 by the day we leave
That would be 75 pounds lighter than even the lightest I ever was when we went together.. I'm looking forward to the perks!
DH is down about 40 pounds too, so this is seriously fantastic!
2) The first time we went, it was my first time as an "adult" (LOL), first time with DH, and his first time (He's from out West... he's a DL'er)... so I didn't know what to expect. Of course I fell in love with WDW all over again, and he fell in love.... and then the second time, again, sick. So this is our first time going where we really just could burst because we can't stand waiting, it's way worse (lol) than last time!!
3) We need a break now more than ever. We're both FT students, we both work FT jobs, and we help take care of my elderly (read: belligerent) father. And we don't see each other much because I work overnights.
SO!
Who: DH (25) and myself (22).
When: 1/5/08-1/12/08 (leaving PA on 1/3--driving)
Where: Wilderness Lodge, Woods View... (requesting 5032, idk what my odds are of actually getting it)
ADRs: Nine Dragons, Crystal Palace (breakfast), Hollywood Brown Derby, Le Cellier, California Grill
So we're leaving really late on 1/3 and wishing for great weather! We are driving from PA. I love road-tripping with DH. I would ALMOST say the drive there is my favourite part
(other, than, you know, the Mouse
) We're best friends, and he makes me laugh for whatever amount of the 17 hours he is actually awake!
We don't usually stop, except for gas, until we get into the Carolinas. We are taking some food in an Igloo with us this time, like Subway or something of the sort... so we shouldn't even have to stop to get a snack until we are at LEAST in North Carolina.
Usually once we get into Jacksonville or just outside of it, I ONLY PLAY Disney music! Last time, it was fantastic---We listened to a punk version of Bear Necessities probably twelve times while I drove in circles trying to find Pop!
If we're lucky, we actually want to arrive in Downtown Disney on 1/4 and stay at a hotel in DTD. I have phone numbers to some of the hotels in DTD that are closest to DTD itself... we may try to find a place with wi-fi once we get near or into FL to link my laptop and find a hotels.com rate, if there is anything available.
So then on 1/4, we would hopefully be shopping, eating at Raglan Road... and getting to bed, to get up early
You're all going to think I'm insane when you see how much I have us running around, especially at first.
Saturday 1/5
Since we will hopefully be in DTD, we want to get up early and head over to WL to check in and eat breakfast at WCC. I want to head over to MK for park opening, but only to see if I can scrounge up any MVMCP pins that might be remaining (I'm crazy, I know). Then we will hop the monorail to EPCOT where we will spend the first half of the day. We have an early afternoon ADR at Nine Dragons. Later in the afternoon, we want to head over to MGM to catch the Spectacle of Lights display before it is taken down. (See? Three parks in one day! I'm insane, I know.)
Sunday 1/6
First off: Does anybody know if there will be anything special at MGM for the name change??
We have an early ADR at Crystal Palace for breakfast with Pooh
I'm SO EXCITED! It's PM EMH that day at MK too. When DH mentioned having a LOOOONNGGG day at MK, I initially thought he was insane. Then I decided it would be fantastic
So this is our run-around-MK day. I recently read about custom ice-cream-cookie-sandwiches at the Main Street Bakery? This may have to be the first order of business!
Monday 1/7
This is our MGM day, and there are PM EMH that night. We have an early ADR dinner ressie for Brown Derby (mmmm).
Tuesday 1/8
Animal Kingdom... we never seem to stay for the entire day, I don't know if this time will be any different. It will be difficult to not eat at Rainforest Cafe, as it is one of my FAVORITE restaurants of all time, introduced to us by WDW.... BUT we have a late dinner ressie at California Grill, where hopefully we can watch Wishes
Wednesday 1/9
This is our main EPCOT day, as well as our drink around the world day!
Considering my stomach capacity is nowhere NEAR what it used to be.. AND I hardly drink.... goodness only knows how long I am going to last. I hope this doesn't wind up being a "drink-around-the-world-until-I-decide-it's-best-to-go-back-to-WL-and-nap" day! Especially since we have a dinner ressie at Le Cellier! Last time, we couldn't get into Le Cellier for the ENTIRE WEEK... so I'm excited to finally try it! There obviously won't be much riding rides going on... so it will probably be a big shopping day too!
Thursday 1/10
Another MGM day... we may float around to different places... we're not sure yet.
Friday 1/11
No matter how EMHs fall, our last day always has to be Magic Kingdom, complete with Wishes. Because I say so.
But, as I said.... last day
I have been terribly sad about the last day since we planned the trip over a year ago!
Saturday 1/12
Have breakfast, milk it for as long as possible, maybe go shopping... then... oh, the agony... start driving home
x infinity.
I am in no hurry to get home. I took off of work on 1/14 as well, (since I work overnights, this would mean me getting to work at 11:59 on Sunday)... and classes start for me on 1/14. (DH doesn't go back until the following week!
) I want to take my time, maybe go to the Disney outlet in Orlando (if we have any money left!).... Can anyone give me any info on it? I've only ever heard about it.
But if we don't get home until way past dark on Sunday... and/or we find ourselves on some beach somewhere instead... I will not be upset.
But I may just superglue myself to the Partner's Statue instead and not leave. How do you think that would go over?
So thats my PTR..... anything I left out!?!
