My Upcoming Trip – PO-FQ Questions…

I am beginning my upcoming Disney vacation at the Port Orleans Resort. I haven’t stayed there yet and am very excited about doing so. I had attempted to stay there last year, but that was when Disney shuttered the resort; therefore, I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort instead (which I loved). I have lots of questions about Port Orleans, as you can imagine.

* Do both the French Quarter and Riverside resorts have their own food areas, or is there only one food area for the entire resort complex? Are there any particular food specialties that I should make sure not to miss, and if so, what are they and where are they found?

* Are the French Quarter and Riverside resorts really within walking distance of each other? Approximately how many minutes will it take me to walk from one end of the French Quarter to the other end (at a leisurely pace)? Same question, only regarding Riverside? Are there inter-resort buses that run between the French Quarter and the Riverside?

* What about the pool areas? I seem to remember that the French Quarter has a sea serpent-themed pool. What theme does the Riverside pool have? Are there snack bars located at the pool areas?

* Most importantly, what about Bob (the entertainer)? Is he really back at the Port Orleans Resort? I have never seen his show, but I was a part of the letter-writing campaign that helped bring him back. Has anyone seen his show recently? And does anyone know what days/times he’s there? I would really love to catch his act since I have read so many wonderful things about it.

As always, any info that my fellow Dis'ers could supply regarding the Port Orleans Resort will be greatly appreciated. I can't tell you how excited I am to finally stay at this resort.

when will you be there? We will be at Riverside Oct 18-26

Both have food courts, only Riverside has a full serve restaurant.
The beinans(spelled wrong!) at POFQ are a nice treat.

There is a boat that runs from one resort to the other, I don't know if it runs all day or not. You could also take a bus to POR from the depot, but not the other way around. French Quarter is small and you could reasonably walk it in 10-15 minutes.

It would take another 15 minutes to get to POR

There are bars at each pool, don't know what POR pool is like.

I never saw Bob, so can't help you there.

POFQ is my favorite place to stay. You will love it there, its small and everything is easy to get to-Have a great time!

KimOhio, we'll be there towards the end of your stay. Have you stayed at this resort before? If you have, I would love to hear your opinions/suggestions regarding it.

Howdoyoudo, I’m happy to hear that you enjoy the French Quarter since that is where we’ll be staying. It was hard to decide between Riverside and French Quarter, as both resorts have wonderful things to offer. And thanks for giving me an idea regarding how long it will take for me to explore the grounds of the resort. Fifteen minutes sounds manageable. I don’t believe I’ve ever even been on a bus that stopped at the Port Orleans Resort complex, so it will be completely new to me.

Both the pools were great! Riverside is the "old swimin' hole" theme. I think my family liked the Riverside pool a little better than the French Quarter pool.

Boatwrights is the full service eatery for both and located on the Riverside side.

We never walked between the resorts, we always took the boat. The boat ride to DtD was a highlight on our trip.

I'm sorry, I know nothing about Bob.

Have a great trip!

Lori
