My United flights just changed-agent said more to come

I just got a call from United and they changed my flights from DC to SFO to Maui so that now we have just 30 minutes to connect in San Francisco. The agent said she didn't think this was a "legal" connection and looked it up. I didn't know there was such a thing as a legal connection. The agent said that the 30 minute time frame was indeed legal but that no one as far back in the plane as us and with the potential for late arrival should chance it. We ended up changing to different airports and our afternoon is shot but at least we're going. The agent went on to say that they are eliminating some flights and filling others because of financial concerns. Just a heads up. I know not many fly United to Florida. As a sidebar- When I booked these flights 6 weeks ago, many of the flights were full but tonight I had many seat choices. Threehearts

30 minutes is too short a time for a reliable connection, legal or not by the airline's guidelines. I recommend 90 minutes.

I would argue they should give me my choice of alternate flights with no added cost and disregarding seat quotas, booking classes, K, Y, M, Q, saver award, etc. fare buckets, etc. since they made the initial change.

I was able to change my flight from DC to LAX instead of going into SFO w/ the tight connection. Due to limited daily flights to Maui, our arrival is later in the day then we originally booked. I guess what surprised me was that United thought that 35 minutes was enough time to make the connection. The agent that I spoke with said, "Oh, yes. Right here in my United book it says that this is enough time." I'm just hoping that this is the last change but who knows? Threehearts
