Anyone have any advice on these? Dd has her heart set on one, but I'm wondering how they compare to American Girl?
thanks-

and they are part of the family. :) My DD has a birthmark on her neck so she wanted her doll to have one too. (You can see it on the doll in one of the pix.. not really on my DD though.) Quality wise I would say they are about the same, but we have had trouble with the long wig getting ratty.. not sure if AG dolls are any different though when played with.

The one thing to point out though is they are quite a bit bigger.. 22" I believe. I think they are also more poseable, but we only have Bitty Baby so I can't be sure. So while it is not as easy to find clothes for them they do wear newborn or preemie, and a size 0 shoe, so we have a lot of cute outfits since you can always find them on clearance.. especially cute holiday clothes. ("Santa" clothes in first pic are from Target)Build a Bear stuff often fits too.. especially the accessories. There are also many seamstresses on ebay that make beautiful clothes. The 2nd photo of my kids I made my DD's dress, and a woman I found online made the matching doll one (without a pattern.. amazing!)

My DD got hers when she was 6 and DS (who also thought he needed one) was 5. They are 9/11 and still play with them, and we dress them seasonally and leave them out. When they were younger we got tons of comments on them when we took them out as they are so unique. Great keepsakes.

Here are some pix..

My 2 DD's both have a my twinn doll. Those dolls have been loved and played with forever. Waaay back, when I ordered them, I sent in 8 x 10 full face photos so the freckles were placed on the dolls faces the same as they are on my DD's faces.:goodvibes

I'm not a fan of them as I don't really care for dolls whose eyes don't open and close and they look rather like linebackers when unclothed. I LOVE the photos above though as those dolls do look incredibly like the poster's beautiful children! I think My Twinn is the only company to do true customs vs. a doll that is more generic. Oh and on the plus side their wigs are gorgeous and can easily be flat-ironed ( mist with water first) to return them to shiny and untangled.---Kathy

DD has 3 of them and 3 AG dolls. The My Twinn Dolls are very well made and quality dolls. She has 1 My Twinn that was "customized" to look like her- had "Stephanie" since 2005. The other 2 are friends that we bought for about half the price. We let dd look through all the pages online and she picked out "Alice" for her birthday in 2009 and "Minnie" for Christmas 2009.

The dolls are much larger than the AG dolls in height and width. They will wear 0-3 month baby clothing. DD prefers them to her AG dolls- she like how their eyes stay open.

We have one that looks like my middle daughter. SHe actually hates her as she looks scary - eye don't close. She is also 13 now but when she received her she was like 8 or 9 at the time. We compare her to the scary Chucky doll. The doll really does look like my daughter but it is something about the eyes that are just scary.

'cause we have 3 Bitty Baby dolls and two of them have one eye that sticks open and one that flops closed. That looks way scarier to us than our Twinns.

Thankyou everyone!
I didn't know they were so much bigger than AG dolls! I just bought a ton of Our Generation stuff for dd and was hoping they would fit My Twinn too :(
I do love the customization though- dd has a birthmark and would think it was really cool if her doll had one too.

I loved my MyTwinn! A real keepsake-- I loved wearing the matching outfits, too!

 This sounds just like us. My dd got hers when she was around 9 or 10 too and she never sat out with the AG girls, the MT was put in the closet because she creeped dd out too much. In fact my 2 dses and I just took her out of storage around Halloween when RL Stines Haunting Hour was on. It was about a girl whose doll turned into her and the girl into the doll so we snuck dd's My Twinn doll onto her bed so she'd find her when she went to bed. I know we are evil but it was too funny, she's 13 and still creeped out by her :rotfl:

I agree that they are creepy dolls. My Mom bought one for each of my daughters a couple of years ago and we all thought they were creepy. I came home from work at 3am one morning and one of the dolls was sitting in the computer chair and scared the snot out of me. I think both of the dolls are in the bottom of the toy boxes.

My dd had/has one. LOL she is a teenager now but she loved that doll! She has great memories of palying with and dressing like her My Twinn. She also had AG dolls which she also loved! If I were going to pick I might go with AG dolls because of the books. We liked the period dolls and dd learned sooo much history from the books. We also went to the AG Place in Chicago which was priceless!

Couldn't you get an American Girl doll that looks like your daughter and add the birthmark? Some fingernail polish, wood stain, or shoe polish might be able to re-create her birthmark.

My DD has one and loved it for a while. We had fun scouting for clothes and shoes at thrift shops, yard sales, and discount stores. It was fun that the newborn and premie clothes fit the doll. Later, she got her first AG doll and the MT was neglected. MT's wig is a tangled mess (I will try a flat iron). We've never had problems with AG wigs like that.

Good luck whatever you choose.
