Hi: I'm a refugee from the Major Policy Change thread. Looks like we will have to change our cruise reservation due to my son's senior trip being changed... Anyway, I have a terrible feeling we won't have enough points to switch to the more expensive June date... So, can I take a day off my Thanksgiving 2010 reservation that I have booked? If I cancel a day-does DVC offer a cash rate for the one night I take off points? Would I be able to get the dining plan for that one night? It looks like it will be less expensive to pay cash for one night at Thanksgiving then it would be to pay for one person on cash on our Alaska cruise. I'd like to know what to ask for when I call tomorrow. DVC is going to think I'm just not worth all of this trouble:rotfl: Thanks!!

There is no problem with Disney taking a night of your November vacation and converting it to cash. There is also no problem with the Dining plan. Disney Member Services will go out of there way to make you happy. The only potential problem I see is changing your Alaskan cruise date and using points. If has been discussed on this board recently that DVC inventory on all cruises is nonexistent until after September 2011. They may not be able to transfer your points to another cruise date. Since you already have a cruise booked through points, I am not sure how this will work out. Please let us know and good luck. I never start looking forward to a vacation until all the logistics are worked out. To me this is the worst part. After everything is set up, a Disney vacation is truly magical.

Are you looking to rebook the cruise and use extra points to make up the difference? You may want to also consider paying the extra person fee in cash for the cruise for your son instead of using points.
