I have worked all afternoon - and it's finished. It was so enjoyable going back through each day, I'm sure I have left bits out and got bits wrong but it's good to have it all journaled. Any questions feel free to ask

If anyone is interested I rented our DC apartment through a woman named Jennifer, this is the other apartment she lets in the same building: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Vacation...thing-Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. If you want to check out the location the address was number 1718 19th street (easy to remember!). It cost us $1000 for 4 nights.

The apartment in NYC we rented through 'Elite City Stays' who have private apartments in a few locations around Manhattan. http://www.elitecitystaysnyc.com/ Our apartment was at 10 Hanover Square and cost $2900 for 7 nights. We even had a phone with free local calls here, and a very helpful doorman.

Both apartments had free wifi.

I'm all caught up mwhat a great trip you had. I want to do exactly the same trip move those apartments in DC and New York. How many did the NY Apartment sleep?

The NYC apartment had a queen bed in the master, 2 single beds in the second bedroom and in the lounge the couch folded out to a double bed. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our party so we fit comfortably

Our price was based on Elite City's Maiden Lane listing - we couldn't stay there due to flooding from Sandy. I think the Hanover apartment was new, it doesn't seem to be listed on their website yet.

My parents had previously stayed at the midtown apartment and said it was a great location and price - it was already booked for when we needed it.

Hi Dabecs,

Wow what an awesome holiday and what magical memories you have made for your girls. Your TR brought back many memories we WDW and NY Dec 2011 - Jan 2012. My daughter loved American Girl and Santa just got her another one for Christmas. I enjoyed looking at all your photos and will be keeping the hotel details for our next trip 2015 We didn't get to Washington or to Central Park Zoo so they are on our list for next time

Yes I knew about the laws (and there are a few exemptions including when the building was built and the co- op laws governing the building as I understand it), my parents had stayed with this same company in a different Manhattan location 2 years prior and were very happy.

Without a personal recommendation I would be very nervous about an apartment rental in NYC - but we had no recommendation for DC and I just did extra research on reviews of the property I was looking for

I liked reading your trip report. We are going to WDW, DC and NY this September so good to see your experiences.
I thought your DC accommodation looked nice and was going to ask where it was. Was amazed when I saw you had put the contact details on this thread and I emailed that same person this morning but must be her other property.
Good to know it worked out well for you.
