My Travel Agent who i booked everything through has gone bust

I'm having a major stress. The tour operator who i booked my wedding, hotel, cruise and experience days has just gone bankrupt.

I've spent all day trying to find out if my wedding is defiantly booked.:sad2: :headache:

Is there any UK brides out there in the same situation. I know a few of you have booked through the same UK tour operator as me.

I'm six weeks away....
 
Oh dear :sad2: I really feel for you. I hoped that no one on these boards would have been affected by this.

I saw someone post about this on the Theme Parks board...

I hope you get in touch with someone at Disney and they can confirm that part is a go for you!

With the rest of it, I hope you get some resolution!
 
AAAAAarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggg - our best man (Lee's brother) and his family which = 5 people have just told us that their holiday has been affected too :sad2: Lucky for them they have 8 months to sort things out.

None of the UK phone numbers are working. They have either been cut off or are constantly engaged. Disney are having a meeting this afternoon to discuss how to continue with all the people. Our wedding planner is ringing us back later to tell us whether we have to pay again for the wedding or whether it has been paid and is secure. I really hope it is.

It looks like weve lost our hotel, Disney tickets and experience days (which we had brought as birthday gifts for eachother).

I'm gutted. I've been an emotional wreck. Weddings are stressful enough without this. This was my worst nightmare.:sad1:
 
Oh no! I am SO sorry you are going through this! :hug: Here's hoping Disney can pull some magic out and get everything back on track for you and the others affected by this. :wizard:

OMG, how awful!! We had XL flights booked for 3 days time. Had to shell out £700 on last minute easyjet flights this morning. :(

That's nothing compared to you guys though :(

From everything I've read though everyone who had booked packages are in the best situation, as we booked flights only through xl.com we aren't in line for any refund at all!!!

Just re-book stuff us fast as you can and worry about the money later if you can.

Would be such a shame for a stupid company to ruin your special day!! Hopefully disney can sort it all out for you, and then XL (or ATOL) will get your money back ASAP.

If you paid for anything with mastercard they should be able to refund you too, (we phoned mastercard today and they said we should get our ££ no problem)

Just spoke with our affected family and they have managed to get in contact with someone ???? don't know who, but they have been told that because it was a package they booked then they should be ok to get their money back, and that it is the flights only that are worst affected.

oh im so sorry, we read it on the news yesterday and I couldnt beleive it.

Hopefully it will get sorted for your trip. if you booked a package you should be covered by abta
 
Speaking to my wedding planner she said there is alot of brides affected. I just hope that my booking is secure and paid for. I think i've almost defiantly lost the hotels and park tickets, but they can be re-booked. I'm gutted for my DF's parents they have lost the whole holiday too. I just hope they can re-book it wont be the same without them:sad1: Please keep your fingers crossed for us x
 
OMG! I am so sorry this happened to you. How awful! I hope everything turns out alright. I've heard so many horror stories about travel agents and such I don't use them. I call the places I'm going directly, but I know that's not always an option for some people. I hope you can reach Disney and they can tell you if everything is all set. I'll be thinking good thought for you and keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi

We were in the same situation 26 of us have lost everything.

We had film crews at our houses and did radio interviews all day yesterday, my last interview was at 10pm last night!!!:scared1:
We have some more to do on monday!!

So not only have we been on sky news, bbc, world news and local news stations we have woke up this morning and we are in all the national newspapers (the photos are awful we look so fat:rotfl: ) and also the front page of the local papers!!!

Its all been hard work but it has worked. Virgin have tried to help but they have no flights for us, BA offered us cheaper flights but the problem is we are all broke due to going away........Thomas Cook have saved the day. We got a call last night saying they had booked us on a flight and are in talks with disney to take over our hotel etc. It will all be done through ATOL, instead of us waiting months to get our money back from Atol they can claim it direct.

We can not thank then enough.

Yesterday we thought because our wedding was so close that we would have to cancel and lose everything but we are saved :yay:

I just feel so bad for anyone else who have lost a holiday wedding or not. We work so hard to save for our holidays.

My heart goes out to anyone in my situation but the best recommendation i can make is contact the media, the interest is huge, my father even saw us on the TV in Africa!!!!

Also remember first choice, thomas cook or thompson will try and help by moving your holiday over to them without any cost to you.

Honest i felt so uncomfortable but it has saved our wedding so just go for it!!!

We were in the same situation 25 of us were booked through travel city direct.

Now i can not say anything about your ceremony with Disney but i know Thomson, thomas Cook and first choice are moving excel holidays over to them through atol so contact them, they have been great and have sorted us out.
