Hello Canadian Disers
Mel here

I have found a map of Tom Sawyer's Island and am going to try and develop a little "Treasure Hunt" for my family. pirate:

Please help me with any ideas or facts you know about Tom Sawyer's Island.

Thanks
Hugs Mel

I'll start--Tom's Island opened in 1973

Pretty well known fact here but for those that may not know:
Every morning CM's hide approximately 10 paintbrushes (big plastic ones) all over the island and whoever finds one and gives it to the CM on the raft, will receive a Fastpass to either BTMRR or SM, good for everyone in your party.

It seems that this little known "Disney secret" is fairly well known now, as we lined up @ 9:50 for the first raft over and there were already 20 people ahead of us. First raft over is usually 1 hour after MK opens.

Its one of those that things that everyone should do once even though it seems that it is "out of your way". Ours kids loved it. So much to see and walk through. They would have spent all day there if we had let them.

Remember, its not written anywhere, but if your family should be lucky enough to find more than 1 paintbrush, please leave it for another family. Let another family enjoy a piece of Disney magic too. :goodvibes

When we went in Sept 2005, my DDs then 5 and 3 "stumbled" over one at 4:30 p.m.! They didn't realize why Mommy was freaking  Told them it was a once in a lifetime occurance. At the time, I was told they only put out one paintbrush a day ... the CMs were amazed it was still out there. They gave us the fastpass certificate but it was off-season with no lines, and Splash Mountain was closed so I just kept it as a souvenir :)

As for the DLR question, I'm not sure. Tom Sawyer Island was closed to the public last March when we went ... they were updating it to be a pirate island a la Pirates of the Carribean ... I haven't kept up to date to know whether it's open, and whether they do it :confused3 I doubt it if the pirate theme has been implemented.
