My Tip! Wear Deodorant!!

Perhaps instead of those misters that are in the parks for a quick cool off on hot days, Disney should replace the mist with a deodorizing mist. The offending people could be herded to walk through the misters thereby sparing others their "cultivated scents". That phrase is now in my vocabulary forever!!

Ha! Ha! Ha! That is SUCH a GREAT idea!! I can see it now!! LOL!! :rotfl:  :rotfl:

I was stuck on a six hour plane ride with the stinky people behind us & their "cultivated scent" and then the older gentlemen in front of us decide to take off their socks :faint: Last but not least, the 3yr old next to us who had a poop diaper and mom didn't want to change it because he would cry & scream. The total of those three "aromas" made me want to jump out the window  My 12yr DD searched in her backpack for her body spray and started misting the air around her....it was quite an experience

I recall an incident several years ago involving a couple from one of those countries where deodorant isn't used. They stunk up the airplane so bad that many people complained. At a stop on their flight, they were met by an airline official who handed them a bag of personal hygiene products and told them they would have to wash up in order to continue on the flight. That wouldn't help with the smelly clothes. However, they tried to sue the airline (didn't win) because the airline wasn't "sensitive" to their cultural differences. I guess I would offend some people in Arabic countries if I went there and didn't stink! Go figure! Oh, btw, if I've offended anyone by my opinions of other cultures I DON'T CARE!!!!!

I am one of the unfortunate people who can not wear deoderant. Notice can not not will not. I bath often and will also wash often as well. I am allergic to all deoderants. I have tried so many including all these so called hyperallergenic products. I would really be glad if I wasn't but that's life I guess.

As my dear departed Mother used to say "There's a big difference between today's perspiration and that from several days ago."

I am sorry that you have an allergy to deoderants, but I would be willing to bet that with your frequent hygiene that you are NOT one of the problems being discussed here.

I don't believe that you can get truly obnoxiously odiferous in a few hours - those people that stink to high heavens usually have not bathed in days.

I've lived in the South on several occasions and am fully aware what "ripe" can be like. Yes it's still best to use deoderant but just plain old soap and water helps immensely.

So I'd like to add - please use soap and water too. Deoderant applied to an unwashed body (YUK!) is not enough.

I'm sorry for your experience but I died laughing at this. It reminded me of a friend who had to take a business trip to West Africa about 20 years ago. The last leg of the flight was on some local airline - she said that people brought goats and chickens on the plane!!! - and that the goats smelled better than the other passengers.

Oh dear! I'm worried about this now - as this is the first time we are visiting Disney in June!

I completely agree about the perfume! I think I would prefer the BO to a perfume bath. Gives me a headache and makes me need my inhaler.

I too vote for the ending of perfume....especially on the airplane.

I fly over 75k miles per year and when I get on and I see an older woman making her way down the isle, I pray that she will not sit next to me (do not mean to offend or type cast - but their sense of smell is not as it used to be and they tend to bathe in the stuff).

It can be so strong that it makes me sick. :faint:

Also, I've quite flying the cheapy airlines (SW, Jet Blue, etc) They tend to be the worst. Nothing worse than hygene insensetive teens and young people, old ladies with the perfume. People taking thier shoes off....!

How does the old saying go:

In order to get on the Subway, you need a token.....In order to get a seat, you need garlic!

My Grandma has a tendency to do this and she makes somebody sniff her before she leaves the house to make sure she doesn't have on too much! She says her reason is that she can't see if it is spraying anymore!

Ooh, during our trip last week, we were behind a whole family with BO. It was pretty rank. The worst part? It was 10AM! Come on now, it's really bad when you reek at 10 in the morning already!

On one morning, we were walking to the bus to get to MGM. We were behind a family whose matriarch left a trail of really strong flowery smelling perfume about 10 feet behind her. That was yucky and even our littlest one said something to us about it. Thank goodness they went to the parking lot and we didn't have to smell that perfume all the way to the park!

Years ago i dated a man who was from one of those Middle Eastern "no deodorant" countries. He was very clean, but he was adamant that a man should smell like a man. He did.:( It ended the relationship. I have been married for 24 years to a Greek man who believes it is better to smell like soap and deodorant. And thank God!

Cathy--believes that men should smell like men, not goats :love2:

Just curious...are there really some women who enjoy a man who smells like a man (goat)?

Living in an Amish community I can't imagine how they are able to concieve so many children. Sorry, but they smell like b.o.

My 5 year old asked me an interesting question. "If under your arms are called your armpits, then why isn't the back of your knees called your legpits??

This is a problem anywhere, not just WDW :). Although it is particularly bad to be in close quarters with someone who stinks and that often happens in WDW. I want to chalk it down to men and sweating, but I don't think this is fully the case. What I've come to learn is that a lot of men are really relaxed on their hygeine (this is not to say all men, but recently I've encountered a lot!). And they're not from other cultures either, they're American born and raised. These men just don't think it's important to do things like wash their clothes regularly, shower daily, wear deodorant, etc. In fact, I recently had to stop seeing this guy due to his odor. I tried months to not be shallow about the issue, I even tried to drop subtle hints, but when my rude friend brought it out into the open to him he just shrugged it off like it was no big deal to not wash his clothes for months at a time. I know he showers regularly and brushes his teeth, but it became apparent to me that after going to his house for 4 months, the pile of clothes on his bedroom floor had never moved. In fact I even saw him pick up clothes from the dirty pile on the floor several times, including boxer shorts, and go put them on. /barf To date he has yet to wash his clothes since August (when I met him). He doesn't think there's anything wrong with it, yet doesn't realize the foul stinch of body odor he exudes. Plus he's a drummer and his clothes are dripping with sweat when he's done playing. Anyway, enough of him. I have to rant about dirty men after being involved with this guy!

Guys (and some women), it is absolutely NOT cool to not practice personal hygeine. I gaurantee no woman will want to sleep with you when you stink to high heaven. This is the second guy I've broken up with due to this issue. The other guy I went on a trip with and he literally wore the same outfit every day (the recent guy does the same thing frequently). Wearing the same shirts back to back is not cool not only for fashion reasons but for smell reasons! At least wash them is all I ask. So I also think the other issue here is not only not washing clothes, but wearing the same clothes multiple days in a row which is what I guess a lot of people do when they go to WDW. You notice how men always pack light and get on us women's cases about taking so much stuff? It's cus they pack themselves like two outfits to wear the whole week!

My other issue is with women who don't change their tampons or pads and everyone around them can smell it. I know sometimes it's hard to do this if you're busy and not thinking about it, but you gotta figure if you go to the bathroom every several hours like most people, it would remind you to change it :P. Just take in mind if you haven't washed or changed your tampon during that time of the month, every woman, animal, and man who's been intimate with a woman during this time, can recognize the smell (this is not to say that others don't notice the awful stinch)!

I literally just threw up a little into my mouth. I have to chaperone pelvic exams at work all the time, and I swear to God you would not believe some of the stuff I see and smell...I'll never forget one time I was assisting a kindly older doctor and he came out with me and said, "Great googly moogly, that thing had teeth AND bad breath!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry, Rick, I couldn't help it.

:p :p :sad2: :faint: :scared:  :headache: :scared1: YES!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! Wear deodorant, bathe, go sparingly on the perfume, and change feminine hygeine products often

Can anyone say EWWWWWWW! :faint:
