My Thoughts on the Deluxe Dining Plan

I think it is great, if it is indeed what it is rumored to be. Also, if "free" dining is offered in 2008 for the basic plan, it would be nice if Disney offered a discount on the deluxe plan.

I've never used the DDP before, since I don't like only having 1 TS a day, but am using it next month, since I got it for "free."

That lead me to thinking, if there is any kind of a package next year at this time with a discounted deluxe DDP, I'd book it. If I went for my usual 10-night stay, I would have thirty TS/CS credits and twenty snacks as well as a mug. I doubt I would use all my credits, but even not using them all, I'd still save money.

I made a list today of all the restaurants currently on the DDP. There are eight signature restaurants I'd like to go to. On the deluxe plan I could go to all eight signatures, as well as fourteen other meals. That's an average of two meals a day, which is not excessive. I could have a TS dinner on my arrival night, a TS breakfast on my departure day, and two meals every full day of my trip.

The one problem with my plan is that if it is discounted at this time next year, and I book it for the end of free dining, it would run into the Food and Wine Festival, and I'd have too many credits, and not enough nights, since I'd have to still book Party for the Senses.

Or I could go in the begining of Sep, and hopefully they'll have the Princess and Pirate parties again next year. Or I could make my dates just so my trip would start with a Pirate and Princess party and end with a MNSSHP.

Clearly I have to much time on my hands right now, since I'm thinking about "what ifs" for 2008.

I am thinking the same way and we have decided to book 8 nights at POP instead of 8 nights at Riverside so that the deluxe plan will only cost $100 more. We decided that the food flexibility was worth it more than the mod resort since my DD 3 will love POP, its her parents that love the mod resorts.
