When I first heard about the podcast cruise, I, like so many, never expected it to become as large as it actually did. I knew there'd be a good turn-out, but not what really came to be. I also thought that this would be a rare opportunity for die-hard DISers to get together and meet members of the podcast crew. Just from reading the Facebook postings and seeing some of the pictures that have already popped up, it appears to have become something so much, much more and makes me wish I was able to be a part of it.
I can only imagine what it was like to board a ship with all of that excitement and so many new friendships to strengthen. The hallways must have been amazing to walk down with the DIS logos, decorated cabin doors, and loaded fish extenders. Mingling around the ship could be nothing less than incredible with a friend always nearby. I am so envious of your experience, but so happy you all had it.
I remember the first time I met someone from the DIS many years ago. We originally met on the now-departed VMK section and have been friends ever since. I know her family and she has met some of mine. I also remember my first big DIS meet. The anticipation and excitement was overwhelming. A group of ladies from the VMK section formed our own group called the Zetas. We had a blast on the DIS and VMK and eventually formed a very strong bond. To this day, we are all still good friends. One of them went on the cruise and is a Dreams agent. I can't wait to catch up with her and hear about her trip.
When people ask me why I love Disney so much, it can be hard to describe. There's so much out there to enjoy, experience, and live for. When people ask me about the DIS, I am confident and proud to say that its members are a part of my family.
Thank you Pete for creating such an amazing community here. Even though I did not experience the cruise with you all, I did feel a part of it and the warm, fuzzy feeling inside is very special.
