My thoughts after finally getting to sail on Wish.

We finally got to sail on the 11/14 sailing on the Wish. I really tried to take all the previous negative comments with a grain of salt. There is no doubt that it is a beautiful ship but some things left me wondering what where they thinking they designed it. The first one was the lack of an outside walking track which was well discussed on these boards. Very disappointing.

In each of the dining rooms the tables were placed much closer together than on the previous Disney ships to the point that the wait staff had difficulty moving between the tables to serve the guests. I enjoyed 1923 but Arendelle was very noisy to the point of not being able to have a normal conversation with my own table and could not clearly hear the performers on the center stage. I think very few people where actually paying attention to the performers. On top of that there was one guest who stood at the edge of the stage and taped the entire first part of the performance blocking the view for many guests. No one from the staff asked the person to sit down. Very rude. They really need to add sound deadening to the ceilings to reduce the noise levels. Also the hallway to Arendelle has red wallpaper on the walls and even though the ship is only about 5 months old already had a tear in the wallpaper. I saw too much wallpaper around the ship that you knew was not going to hold up to the crowds and would require lots of maintenance.

We were in the left half of the Marvel restaurant. The restaurant was noisy but no where near the levels of Arendelle. Again the tables were very close together and while walking to the table on the one open path there is a pillar that is smack in the middle of the path that you have to walk around and cannot see what is on the other side until you actually start walking around it. Did not seem very wheel chair friendly. Als while waiting for the Marvel restaurant to open the entrance is right off of the elevator bank so until the restaurant is opened people are waiting outside the restaurant blocking the elevators. Not a very safe situation.

The restaurants felt fully packed in even though the ship was only 3/4 full with 3,000 passengers. Can't imagine the ship filled to capacity.

I thought the Marceline buffet was done well as was the deck 11 festival of foods stations.

The adult area seemed like an after thought. It was located at the rear of the ship and was very narrow and crowded as you walked through it from one side to the other where cove cafe was located. After cove cafe there was a dead end so you had to go back through the adult area to get out of that section.

We were in an Oceanview with veranda room. We enjoyed the room, the veranda was a little smaller but we were fine with that. We would have liked to see a little more color to the room. It did seem a little bland.

Yes the tables are very close in the restaurants . I had to move beside my husband instead of across because there was a post behind my chair the servers had to go behind with food.

Some one stood and talked to family members at a big table and blocked our view on stage to. Not to mention I had no idea what was going on either. Our cruise didn’t have Olaf either.

How did you find the couch in your cabin? It was so hard we never sat on it.

yes, we found the couch cushion very hard as well. No one seemed to be paying attention to the show I do not remember seeing Olaf.

We were on the same sailing as you. I just did a trip report under the report thread. I felt the same way as you did on many things. You are right about Arendelle. It was so loud and we couldn’t follow what they were trying to convey at all. We were in the other side of 1923, but we had an excellent table, not really near anyone. It was by far our favorite. We had a great table in Marvel, but since I don’t know anything about the Marvel movies, I wasn’t really interested on what was on the screen. I thought that restaurant was very dark, but I do appreciate the thought that went into it.

I also agree about the adult areas, very very small. Not many places to sit outside and we really missed that. It was almost like they wanted to keep you inside the ship, maybe shopping at the very large high end stores.

It was absolutely beautiful, but I think they missed on some things, including the non existent walking track. Most in our group really missed that. The elevators we found much busier on this ship as well.

It was good to read your report. Our experience was very similar to yours.

Same sailing here. We also thought the ship was very pretty but not sure if we will sail on her again.

We did have our own table per my request (really needed to decompress from work). We had second dinner seating, and our first night was in Arendelle. While I enjoyed the show, the table of 10 sitting right behind us was really loud. We dreaded being near them again in our dining rotation, but our future tables were distant enough to not hear them again.

We barely utilized the adult only areas on deck 13. We checked out Cove Cafe because I thought I read in this forum that it was the size of a closet, which isn't true. The area in general is so poorly laid out.

We enjoyed all of our meals in the MDRs, Marceline Market, quick service, and our Palo brunch. Our only food feedback was that they needed healthy options easily available on deck (similar to Daisy's Delites).

We sailed Wishes in mid-October. Our aft cabin had a huge veranda with two loungers as well as the usual chair seating with table. The cabin was small and only accommodated a chair. Our cabin was aft so we really enjoyed the adult area location. The few times we were there it seemed underused. We followed one fellow around the track and do think DCL is courting a liability. We enjoyed Thor: Love and Thunder. I would not call it a 'kids' movie but we found it amusing. (Shame about Chris Helmsworth.) We didn't have any problems with the dinners. We have always found the dinner seating on DCL ships to be claustrophobic. We sail on Wishes again in March and plan to attend one dinner, which for us will either be Marvel (I liked the show) or 1923 (best food).

We were told our cruise was at capacity and, while there were certainly people around, we never had a problem finding a seat any where or not being able to access an area. The sound disbursement is better by the big TV (funnel vision?). I usually avoid that area but we actually sat and watched Moana there. The only place we avoided due to noise was the QS area.

So ironic (in a good way). Our Magic sailing on Oct31st from NYC=>SanJuan was less than half-full (the GOOD half!). They even combined and made one MDRoom seating and one show, which was ok. Shows, food and CM's (including Tony from Spain) were all a delight.
We have had many wonderful cruises on the Magic, and this one, our first in 3 years, was good as well.

I've been trying to decide whether to post a thread similar to this or not, because I try so hard not to be negative. There just isn't a lot nice to say about the Wish. It's shiny and new for the most part, but that's really about where it ends. There is no excuse for the walking deck or the tightness of the MDRs. Those were two of the biggest negatives for us, but they are followed closely by all the various dead ends on the ship. It's just a poorly designed ship, and I doubt they'll be able to fix a lot of the issues before the Treasure sets sail. Changing that walking track would require a major redesign. Like others have said, I think this was a one time cruise for us - back to the other four ships.
