I almost forgot about this but I thought I'd comment and encourage people to raise their hands for shows.

DH has been an extra in the Backstage tour twice and I've done it once with him (while our kids watched and laughed at us). DH was also a participant in a game at Universal Studios.

So this year we are sitting on the very right hand side of the stage for Indiana Jones and I have no idea what possesed me to raise my hand but I did. She called on me and before I knew it I whisked away to put on a costume and on stage. The whole thing was a blur as I'm a fairly shy type of person. Since I've been to WDW so many times and seen this show each time we have gone it was really fun to be part of the show and experience a different side of the show. I'm really glad I did it.

I did this, and had a blast. I'm a HUGE Indy nut and this ranks right at the top of my favorite WDW experiences. What I thought was the best was we didn't miss hardly any of the show either just because we were in it.

My DH has been to the show 3 times and never seen it...for the same reason. He enjoys being in the show and I'm sure he'll do it again this year :sunny: .
On our trip in 2002, he got asked to do the dying scene infront of the crowd. Luckily our camera takes video clips because he hammed it up :lmao: . He really needs to come out of his shell :rolleyes1 .

MelanieC-I've always wanted to go to this, but never got the chance. I'll be back at WDW in less than three weeks and this time I'm going to give it a try. By very far right, do you mean as you are facing the stage you were all the way over to the right?

Thanks Y'all

I've done this 3 times, the kids really get a kick out of seeing me do this. I really enjoy it too.

Tips to get picked for Indy.

I always wear a red shirt. (for some reason it is more noticable)
When the casting director is introduced and says I'll be looking to cast some extras for todays show, don't even let the casting director finish, jump up and yell like an idiot. This works EVERY time. Embarrassing?.... YES.....Worth it?.....ABSOLUTELY!

As a HUGE Indy Fan I would love to be an extra! However I've yet to be picked...next time I'm jumping up and acting a fool and if I get picked it will be totally worth it, plus it will give me good cause to buy a new fedora.

The key is to be the first one to jump up and act like an idiot.

I always tell people who ask about being in show the same thing. STAND UP. When you are down at that stage, you can't really see the audience all that well. You want to be in front (my favorite section is actually house right, second sections, first row - but you have better chances at house center) Just JUMP up and down STAND UP and look really excited. Everyone who has always asked me has gotten in. I see people standing on the bleachers. You're not really supposed to do it, but it makes you stand out.

YUP! I immediately jumped up and screamed. I was the first picked. Do you look stupid? YEP! SO WHAT!!!! :lmao:

You have to show how well you can scream. I . . . think I look more impressive than I sounded.

But I got to shake Indy's hand! :cheer2:

My DH does this and as I've said, has been picked each time. When he screams, he tends to scare the pants off of everyone around us. Then we get questioned about how he knows to do that... :ssst: it's our secret.

We did this when we were on our honeymoon! It was a lot of fun! :goodvibes

DH was an extra in 2004 and he is hoping to be picked again for our upcoming trip. He really enjoyed himself in 2004!

I got picked in 2002 and 2005. Just as others said, I was jumping up and down and practically waving at the cast member trying to get picked. It was a lot of fun. We didn't go see the show this year otherwise, I would tried again! :cool1:

I was picked for a show back in 2000, and it was definately a must do experience if given the chance.

DH and I did it 3 years ago. It was always my goal to get in the show and I never did. DH jumped around like an idiot, so of course he got picked, and then they let me come too. I had literally NO voice whatsoever, so I squeaked out my "lines" and had a complete blast!!! I loved being part of the show!!

I made my sister jump around to get picked the last time we were there and even though she did, all she got to say was "hi, I'm Katie from Pittsburgh, PA" and then they had to stop the show due to a thunderstorm. :(
