We had a great time! We camped in lancaster, just DH & I. Generally, we have a very bad habit of getting lost. Anytime we drive more than a couple hours from home, with the exception of Disney, we get lost. WE can drive to Florida with our eyes closed, it must just be a Diser's instict.
Ofcourse lancaster is just a little over 2 hours from here, so we found ourselves lost many, many times on that short trip. At one point, as we were happily singing along to by "best of the 70s" CD, we found ourselves heading straight towards a "Welcome to Delaware" sign. LOL We ending up buying a map. After fighting a lot of construction traffic, we made it there in just over 3 hours.
We set up our tent right away, because we were expecting rain. We weren't too pleased with our campground. The bathhouses weren't the best, or even close to it. We had hoped for a site in a wooded area, instead we found ourselves in a corn field.
Then we headed to strausburg. After getting lost a few times, we found the little shop where we planned to buy tickets for the Lancaster Co. ghost tour. We love candle light ghost tours & really looked forward to this. We had three hours until the tour began so we headed down the road to sight see. I noticed a beautiful building of to the right. I had no idea what it was, but told DH to pull into the parking lot. I just had to find out what this building was & well, everyone else was pulling in there too.
I had to see what was going on. It was the Sight & Sound Theatre. We went in at 4:00 & discovered that Noah the musical began at 4:30. We would be able to see the show & still make it to the ghost tour! I was so excited! IT was a wonderful play. Wordds can't even describe it!
Just wonderful. I was so excited that i had to call home during intermission to call everyone.
After the show we headed back to town for the ghost tour. IT was a terrible tour, just terrible. The stories they told weren't scarey at all. They weren't even about houses in the area. When we finally arrived at the cemetary & I hoped something scarey may happen, it began to pour. We ran to a pavillion & the tour was cut short.
Next we headed to Walmart, I like to check out local Walmarts. Not really, I just wanted some new CDs in case we got lost again.
Then we headed back to our campsite, made some smores & retired to our tent.
I slept with the flash light close by. I could hear the corn blowing in the breeze. I've seen the movie "Signs." Trust me, sleeping next to a cornfield is much scarier than the lancaster ghost tour! LOL
The next morning we took a complimentary bus tour of Lancaster that was included in our campsite price. The tour was great, very informative. They took us to an Amish farm, were we had homemade rootbeer & cookies. DH was so dissappointed that I ate the cookies instead of taking them home for the children. He wanted to buy more. I exlplained to him that just because they are made by the Amish, doesn't mean they are better than mine! LOL I guess he thought they were made by magical hands or something! We also went to an Amish roadside stand & to an Amish families house, where they had many quilts for us to view. The were beautiful.
After the tour we headed to Miller's, a buffet. The food was great, but the price was high. I usually only enjoy high-priced buffets when Mickey Mouse is going to stop by my table.
But, I must admit, DH almost had to roll me out the door! I was stuffed.
Heading home, we somehow found ourselves stuck in traffic on 95. There was no reason why we should have been on 95. we have no idea how many wrong turns we took. Or perhaps the vqan just wanted to head to Florida. Either way, in just over 3 hours we arrived home.
