Well, on my second day at Disney World, Monday, March 12, I decided to go to the Animal Kingdom. I originally wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to Epcot or go to the Animal Kingdom. There were some things at Epcot I didn't do the first day of my trip that I still wanted to do, like see what my picture looked like, and watch The Circle of Life film at The Land, but I finally decided to go to the Animal Kingdom, anyway.
I originally planned to watch The Festival of The Lion King first, but it was already underway when I got there. There were a lot of characters there, and I stuck around for a while, but finally decided to move on and catch The Festival of The Lion King later. I went over to Africa and rode the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. I didn't spend as much time there as I originally thought I would, though, and before too long I was back in Africa. I got my first frozen lemonade of the trip, which I really liked, and I also went on the Pangani Forest Exploration trail. The animals were fairly active both here and in the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia, and people seemed to get a kick out of the gorillas. One gorilla in particular decided to run and spin around, then play with a clump of some brown weed / grasslike stuff that looked like it might have fallen from a tree.
While in Africa, I went on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. The tigers seemed pretty interested in the people looking at them. Two in particular were standing together and looking back up at everyone. I also watched the Flights of Wonder show at the Asia while I was there.
Next, I went to Dinoland U.S.A. I saw Tarzan Rocks! for the first time, and enjoyed it. The last show I had seen at that stage was the Jungle Book performance. There was a bit of rennovating at Dinoland U.S.A., so I didn't get to see as much as I wanted to see. The Boneyard was open, as well as the Dinosaur ride, and the shop(s?) and restaurants, but that seemed to be it.
I went back to Camp Minnie-Mickey and watched the 4:45 performance of Festival of The Lion King. After that, I walked around some more. I had another frozen lemonade, as well as a fronzen banana and some Sprite sometime during the day at the Animal Kingdom. I kind of wish I had gone on the Dinosaur ride. As it is, it's kind of hard for me to believe I didn't manage to do more before the park ended. I didn't do the Dinosaur ride in Dinoland U.S.A., the Kilimanjaro Safaris in Africa, or It's Tough to Be a Bug! at Discovery Island. I'd done those three things before, though, and probably will again when I go back to Disney World in December 2001, with my family, and for a longer stay.
I got back to the Transportation and Ticket Center with two or three hours left before we were supposed to leave for home that night, so I picked up some Lion King pins at the gift shop nearby. I then rode the bus to Downtown Disney, which was loading as soon as I happened to be approaching the bus stop for it. I got another frozen lemonade at Downtown Disney, as well as the Rafiki pin that I couldn't find at the gift shop at the Transportation and Ticket center, and I also got an Eeyore dangle pin that I think I had been reading about on these boards before I left on this trip. I had been debating up to that point where to buy these pins or not, but I am a big Lion King fan, and I also like Eeyore, so I decided to do it.
I got back to the bus with an hour to spare, so I waited on the bus to go home. I heard that some people had gone to the Magic Kingdom and gotten stuck on Splash Mountain for an hour and twenty minutes. At least one of them missed a dinner reservation.
I watched Armageddon and Beaches on the way home, and didn't get much sleep. The guy I was sitting next to got a lot, though, and kept moving around. I finally got home a little after 6 AM. I took a shower, got a little Orange Pinapple juice to drink, then went to bed. I didn't realize how relieved my feet would feel when I laid down. They didn't feel that tired before I laid down, but they felt even better once I did.
I got my film developed, and I like how my pictures turned out, even though I had my finger in front of the lens in a few pictures. I didn't realize I had done that when I was actually taking the pictures in the parks.
Anyway, that's basically it for my two days at the Disney World parks on Spring Break, March 10 to March 13, 2001. I'm looking forward to going back there with my family this December. I'm sure I'll get to do even more then.
