Not to knock DCL, I love DCL and have been on many cruises. So here's my quick story. Maybe it will benefit someone else in regards to wasting time. I have been to the 3:00pm spa raffle every cruise on the first day. I listen to the talk (same every cruise, all ships) and it's fine...but I never win. :( So this last cruise I won!!! And I won the big raffle jackpot...the $100 spa credit. So I get my voucher and skip off to my room and continue my day. For a few days my mom and I discuss how to spend the money. I think well maybe I will just do the rainforest for her and I for a few days. That would be fun. Or a mani/pedi. So I go to the spa to book something....and this is where it goes south. I am first told, yeah yeah, whatever you want. So I spend about 20 minutes figuring it all out and trying to not go over my 100. Well then someone else comes out and says "oh sorry but you can only choose from the signature services." well I said, "all those services are well over $100. Most are close to $200." She said "yes I know but that is all we offer with that raffle." Well I was pretty mad that I had to SPEND almost $100 to get my $100 free. :(((( So, for those of you that think this is a quick $100 free giveaway and don't want to spend money in the spa...don't go to the raffle. If you see it as 50% off a service that you were going to get..then go to the raffle! :)

Thanks for the info. I thought the same as you did.

Thanks so much for posting. I had no idea. I had thought I would go to the talk on our next cruise with the hopes of winning but now I see it would just be a waste of time.

Wow that stinks...of course you thought you could spend the money any way you wanted. Thanks for the info...now I know I don't have to worry about that.

We stopped by on the second of our back to back cruises. You must be present to win, duh. Well they got tired of people not being there so they asked a question and it was just given to whomever they saw raise their hand first. But yes, most of their stuff was signature treatments or for a part of the spa, like reflexology or whatever. So needless to say, I certainly would not waste any of my time visiting the spa raffle again when there are so many other things to do on the ship.

This is accurate. We won and used it on the couples cabana massage, but even with $100 off, it was $240 after everything was said and done.

I won the acupuncture once and only had to pay the tip. With that said I hate needles so I was nervous, but it really didn't hurt and it did help my sore shoulder. I was excited that I actually won. However, I would be disappointed to win the $100 jackpot and not get to choose a service within a close $ range unless I was already planning to do a signature service.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear there are limitations on a "prize" like that. Thanks for the heads up though!

That is ridiculous. I went to the spa raffle for the first time on our last cruise. Did not win. But they ended up giving discount cards to everyone who went that sound very similar to your experience with the actual prize. I have forgotten what it was but it was like 30 or 50% off specific things- I think it was the signature services you mentioned. Later in the cruise, they sent a note to my room with another deal offer, thanking me for coming to the initial raffle. I did not read it thoroughly. I just didnt have the time to go to the spa.

In addition to what the previous posters have said, we learned you may not use the "winnings" on any spa treatment you've already booked. :(

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea, but it doesn't surprise me. I love all things Disney, but I think the spa is run by a separate company, not Disney. I love the Rainforest Room on the Dream Class ships, but there several things I do not like about the spa.

Yes spa is run by different company and, like on all cruise lines, way overpriced. I have gone for the raffle a couple times, but thanks to op I now know not to bother!

Yes. Almost every spa at sea, regardless of what cruise line, is run by Steiner of London.

We used a DVC presentation winning for our couples cabana massage!

Yes, same thing happened to me on my cruise in January. Won the grand prize only to learn I had to book a Signature Spa package to claim my $100 credit. I went with the the Hot Stone Massage and it ended up costing me $69+ tip, which really wasn't that bad a deal. The massage was wonderful and really helped make my cruise that much more relaxing. That being said, I'll still go every time on embarkation day in the hopes of winning again. So worth it!

I have only gone once and on that day, every prize was won by a man- LOL. I don't think I will take the time to do it again. Too much else to see and do.
