After no less than 3 trips to WDW this year, I was of course out of points. we stayed at POFQ which was great and very easy to get around with small kids.


And the HORROR>>>> I exchanged another timeshare week I have for Marriott Grand Vista... first time out of the parks in 10 plus years... Now compared to Boardwalk, the Grand Vista unit was larger. It was very nicely furnished, very nicely appointed. But it was not DVC.

Things I learned although it was beautiful. Even if I have to stay POP, I do not want to be off property again. I hated driving back and forth.
At the most it was a 10 minute drive.
But... The road to the Grand Vista property was like a death match....

So too my point we went to dinner at the Boardwalk and walked over to Illuminations after. As soon as we pulled up to the lit Boardwalk sign. We all fealy like we were missing somthing...

After Illuminations one of my twins as we approached the Boardwalk bakery said... Hey ,, guys How about we just go upstairs for tonight??? I said we can't we don't have a room there this time. He said call the DVC and have them give us a key to our house there. I just WANT to go upstairs and go to bed!!!!!!!!

And Spiceycat... although Grand Vista was very nice building 95.... My socks as yours are black and need to be tossed. You were correct, Those walkways were filthy!!!!

staying off site and going to WDW is not a good situation....

however staying off site and going to Seaworld, US/ioA and all the great outlet malls - is definitely the way to go (my opinion).

I am so sorry you got one of the building that has not yet been rehab. Please make sure that II knows you weren't happy.

I will be in your situation shortly - almost out of points - but a Sept trip coming up - followed by a Nov trip...

I got a great deal on the Sept trip - no exchange - extra vacation - Orange Lake for $149 for 7 nights - a 2-bedroom - my brother and his family will be there (the reason we are going) in another resort - Celebration - they are taking their dog and the Celebration is one of the few timeshares that allows pets (for an extra charge).

Nov is my other timeshare Westgate...Friends are coming and we intend to do the food and wine festavial - for this one I really would like to stay on WDW property.

Oh well maybe we can get a good discount with the AP for Nov in POP.

Visiting WDW it is definitely best to stay on WDW property. However any trip and I mean any trip to WDW is better than being at work.....

Oh - my niece is even worst - she has notified everyone she only want to stay at OKW in a 2-bedroom....
Since I stay in studios that is not happening.

I dunno. We often stay offsite at our Vistana timeshare and can get to WDW quite easily entering and exiting via Hotel Plaza Blvd which is right down the street from Vistana. It's never more than a 10-12 min drive and we clocked a record of 8 min a couple of times in slow season. So the majority of our driving is actually done on disney property. I can most definitely get to WDW quicker than to Uni or Sea World from Vistana. I really think it depends on where one stays offsite. Just a varying opinion.....................

My three year old is also on his way to being a DVC addict. When we arrived at the BCV (our home resort), he said, "Can we stay here?" I said, yes. And he said, "Welcome to my new home!" He really thought we were trading in our old one for this new one!

When we left, he kept talking about going back the whole drive home. And when he went back to daycare, he invited everyone to a birthday party at his home - Disney World. We had just celebrated his birthday there. We're gona need more Points

Siceycat... Jeez I thought building 95 was a rehabbed unit? If it wasn't it was in pretty good shape. There was only a little wear and tear on the walls like chipped. If that is the case then the rehab units must be really nice!!!!

Honestly like you sais ( Pa My socks were black from teh exteriior hallways. They were all sticky just like you had said) The only other issue I had was the fridge was Not working, and we had enginering up twice. ANd a valve on the whirlpool came off.

Mia... It was a really quick ride kind of behind the outlet mall. Are you the Vistana over there as well? I jsut thought that particualr road over was CRAZY!!!! I can see Seaworld and staying there for a weekend or so. And easily doing No parks and hanging there with all the activities they have got going for the kids. Believe me.... no bashing here. I just wouldn't do WDW from offsite again. Simply not for me...

my kids are terrible snobs now too.... twice we've had to stay off-site for a short period of time - - once because we were going to Universal and I wanted to be close.. (what a mess that was...)

anyway - my youngest picked the Nick Suites to be a transitional hotel this time and after about 4 hours she hated it... All they want is OKW, and they want it NOW!



They also have NO concept of the ATM either!!

No, I don't own there---that's the Vistana Villages. I own at the main Vistana resort which is right down the road from the Crossroads shopping center and Goodings. I never find the traffic that bad except at certain times and even then we're only on SR 535 for two light before we turn left onto Hotel Plaza Blvd to go to WDW. For us, DVC is our first choice for accomodations, but I don't really look forward to staying in the disney value or moderates over staying in our 2 bedroom/2 bath villa at Vistana due to sheer space. We usually travel with 5 or 6 in our family and the larger 2 bedroom villas are the way to go for us. So just because a hotel is on WDW property, doesn't necessarily make it work for our family because we'd have to get two rooms. And I've had experiences where disney was unable to give us connecting rooms which was very difficult especially when the kids were little. So Vistana really works for us, as well as the larger DVC accomodations.

I would definitely complaint to II about the state of the outside halls.

they may get the marriott to start cleaning them again.

I think I'm gona teach that to my DS's just for fun. We'll pretend we're rich, even though we're far from it! Well, we're rich in all the ways that count

Oh, and just to add another "snob" story. The first morning we were home after our time at Disney, I asked DS #1 what he wanted for breakfast...cereal, oatmeal, toast. He politely replied, "Waffles. That look like Mickey." I had to explain we weren't at Disney anymore. Needless to say, I was making waffles that whole evening after work to try and have enough for the rest of the week. Darn those great Disney buffets

My 8 year old doesn't even remember when we stayed at the moderate resorts on site. All he remembers is DVC. This past summer we stayed at the All-Star Music resorts to save our points for this year. We got in late and the first thing he said as he surveyed the room was......

"Hey! were's the jacuzzi tub and the kitchen...how I am supposed to get anything to eat?" His poor little sensiblities got a rude awakening.

Talk about a snob....I think he will be happy to see that we have those amenities back this trip.
