WHAT A RIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of these kids are 6 years old. There main concern at practice is "When is it my turn to bat", and "What are we having for a snack".

He has 2 lady coaches, they are great with the kids. It is so funny because Seth plays third base. When he gets bored he just sits down and starts to build a sand castle. So 2 other kids see him building the sand castle and then they come over to help him. DW and I did nothing but laugh the whole practice.

Gotta love kids..:jester:

Too funny! We were just talking about this last night with a few other parents at my 9 yr old's "Machine Pitch" game. .... we were saying... remember just a couple of years ago when they were more interested in picking dandelion's, playing in the dirt or watching the clouds? Now they are all focused... watching for the ball, even catching it on occasion! :D

I would much rather watch 6 yrs olds play then when they are older and more serious.

I coach my 6 year old's t-ball team and it has been the most rewarding coaching job I've ever had. I have coached high school baseball and worked at a baseball school, but teaching these little uns about this great game and watching them improve every week has been like therapy for the soul. My 6 year old can catch hit and throw (he's always been able to), and he's even helping some of the other kids understand the game.

The real scary part is that my soon to be 4 y.o. is better than about 90% of the kids on the team, but they won't let him play because he's too young.

It is great, and I hope Seth continues to enjoy the game. Just remember when he gets a little older and more "focused," he's still just a kid and try not to make it too serious, keep it fun for him. Don't yell at the umpire or the coach. Don't embarass him. He'll thank you for it later. :)

T-Ball is great! When my son played, one of the little kids ran off the field in the middle of the game because he had to go to the bathroom. :)

There is NOTHING funnier. My almost 6YO is playing. Our rules are this:

3 innings or an hour and a half whichever comes first
EVERYONE hits every inning
There are no outs
There is no score
EVERYONE plays in the field every inning. (ever seen 4 shortstops go for the ball at the same time? Arms legs and gloves everywhere)

But....they are having a ball, thier coach has the patience of a SAINT, and the other moms and I get to cheer, drink our iced coffee, and giggle for an hour or so on a Saturday morning.

We are enjoying it immensely. :teeth:

My mom put my sister and I in Tee ball when we were six years old. I remember us running the wrong way  But it was pretty cute.

My son is 8( will be 9 in October). He has played ball since age 4. The way the local teams due the age divisions, we actually have several 6 yr olds on the team. Where the are cute as buttons, like the original poster said,..their attention spans are not as mature as an older kid.

My husband has coached baseball since our 17 yr old was little. I think this is going to be the most trying year yet.

We have 3 kids who still belong on a Tball league. Why their parents chose to put these kids in the "Pinto" league is beyond me!!! For safety reasons, we have already decided that they will be in the outfield or catcher...because the older boys are pounding the heck out of the ball...and a line drive can be a deadly weapon if the kids are not paying attention!!!

Again,we see that we made the mistake of not moving up our son a division. He actually "age" wise belongs in the Pinto division but skill/attention wise..he definately belongs up a division. His patience is running thin with the younger kids. He was asked to play on the travel team of the older division this winter..and we chose to keep him down with his own age group for many reasons(we didn't know if we wanted him to play against 10 yr olds for the same reasons we don't like 6 yr olds playing with the 8 yr olds, we wanted him to play with the majority of his friends).

So, as cute as these 6 yr olds are....please remember that playing in the dandelions and sand is cute...it also can be very very dangerous!! If the child is not looking and gets nailed with a batted ball, a fun game turns NO SO FUN really quick!

Luckily, of my husband's assistant coaches who has a 6 yr old sand player...has already asked that his son never play in the infield unless his maturity level increases during the season! He knows when several of the boys come up to bat...that the infield quickly becomes a dangerous place!

JMHO as a coaches wife...

I totally agree with how cute these kids are. My 6 yo DD is so fashion concious even when it comes time for T ball. The helmut really puts a damper on her hairdo! Just watching her run, holding on to the helmut is enough to make you crack up.

I have to admit that I love to wander over to the 5 & 6 yo fields at our complex to watch the little guys play.

They all look so cute in their tiny uniforms. :)

Kirk used to love to play t-ball. :D He always used to run the wrong way!! :bounce: The coaches used to stand by the base they used to run to just to make sure he went in the right direction!! ;)

When t-ball ended and the "real" little league games started, he had a coach who was only interested in winning the game. He played favorites and those kids got the good positions. Kirk was always stuck in outfield. :( The worst thing was when the coach disagreed with the umpire...he would carry on and have a fit! Once, he even tried to call (on his cell phone!) another coach to make a ruling before he would let the game continue!! When I would cheer the kids on from the sidelines, he told me to "stop it...you're distracting them!" Kirk hasn't played baseball on a team since! It's a shame too....he has one heck of an arm!! When it was his turn to bat, the opposing teams coach would tell all his players to "back up - he can put it out there!" :)
