My son and his leukemia

First off, hugs to you and your family-you've been through so much. My best friends son had ALL-he was diagnosed when he was 18 months old and is now a healthy 11 year old!!! I remember my friend being very worried about every sniffle, cough or fever-who would'nt be, right? She also went through a tough time near the end of his treatment for exactly the reasons you stated-of course she wanted him to be done with all his treatment but was very nervous. There are 2 phone calls I'll never forget in my life-the first was when he was in the hospital and they were thinking leukemia(the worst call) and the second when she called from leaving the Drs office at his 5 year anniversary and was declared cured(the BEST!!) I will keep Matt in my prayers and I know that in 5 years, I will see a beautiful post from you updating us on your healthy son :goodvibes

:grouphug: I'm sorry for all you and your family has been through. I hope that Matt is feeling better soon and that he won't have the need for more treatments. Matt is in my prayers.

Please keep us posted.

Hugs to you! And while he isn't my biological child our nephew was diagnosed last June at the age of 18 months with ALL and started on chemo. He has almost been taken from our family 3 different times and my SIL who is a nurse is already freaking out about when the treatment is over and he still has 2 more years and 3 months before they will be facing it! I'm sure that for the last years this has been the forefront of your thoughts and worries and you wouldn't be normal if you didn't worry about the what if's.

Try to just take it 1 day at a time and not worry about what might or might not happen. *I know easier said than done believe me as I'm the queen of stress outs*.

Hugs and prayers for you and your family!

Steph, it sure sounds like your family has been through way more than your share of difficulties. I hope Matt beats this thing and you guys can just live happily ever after!!!

No answers. We had a grandma pass away from ALM but that is a more aggressive form I think.
I do know you have been through a lifetime of things in a short time. More so then most people will ever comprehend. Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other and march because that is all that's left to do. I am sorry for your pain and worry. I hope for the best and brighter days for your family thats for sure.

I have no experience with ALL, but I wanted to let you know I will be thinking about Matt. I'm sending lots of prayers and good wishes your way. You've been through so much.

Steph, I had no idea either. I know you have lost two little boys and wow, I can't imagine facing this as well. Matthew is just so lucky to have you as his mom now. I will keep you and Matthew in my thoughts and I hope that everything goes ok and he continues on his remission.

I can't speak for cancer but my dd has a repaired heart defect at 4 months, she is 15yo now.

I think I was "freaked out" for a long time, years. Young kids get sick and if you have a child with a higher concern you worry. It means you are a good parent. Just give yourself some time. It might take awhile, but it is OK!!!:goodvibes

{{{HUGS}}}

:grouphug: and prayers for Matt and your family that everything turns out well. Remember to take care of yourself too.

Are you talking about the Pete Schweddy's Christmas Balls? :rotfl2: I crack up just thinking about that skit!

My family and I, we do have a weird sense of humor about things. It really helps us get through life! I love this saying from that old show Newsradio:

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and then throw it in the face of the person who gave you the lemons until they give you the oranges you originally asked for!"

Prayers and love sent to your little boy and to you and your family.

Leukemia was something I used to raise money for with my best friend, who had a very aggressive form of it. She was an adult when she got it though, (she died at 31). Children have much better resiliency with this.
