Okay I have far from lost tons of wgt (18ish) but I was busting out of 20W and now I wear 18reg - sort of:confused:

I now have a waist - the thing I've heard about but really never beleived they existed - only thing is my HIPS! - they are 14" larger than my waist:eek: - When I buy clothing that fits the waist - TOO TIGHT on the hips and if I buy clothes that fit the hips - MUCH TO BIG on the waist:(.

I WILL always have LARGE HIPS this I know but when I get to goal I think they will be in better proportion to my waist. ? is because of this difference shorts either look baggy or snug and just VERY BAD? Any suggestions to help me have a summer wardrobe that won't look AWFUL!

Hey I don't expect miracles - I am still large - just want to be able to look semi-normal in summer clothes!

I don't know how you would feel about it, but have you considered any lower-rise shorts that would just rest on your hips and leave your waist out of the equation? I'm not talking ultra-low or anything, but something that puts your waistband an inch or so below your waist.

I find that works for me when I have waist baggyness (bagginess? nope, they both look odd ;) ). Mind you, that usually means you have to buy bigger sizes. I also have a fairly short torso plus a tummy 'pooch', so low rise things on me don't tend to be as low as the manufacturers might intend (which is fine with me! lol!)

That's the only thing I can think of off hand. Best of luck. :)

i have that shape, you know the one where if I can just squeeze it over my hips then i'm in business. kinda a bummer though when one drinks and drinks water all day and pulling those snug jeans over my hips becomes more a chore than I care to say

yes, i have gaps at my waist on several pairs, I like the hip huggers too for that reason. I think that regular like straight cut old fashioned Bill Blass or Lee Jeans don't gap as bad, but they are not a fashion statement these days

have you tried the stretch jeans? i like some of them

i will probably always have my extra baggage in my hips and saddlebags. i'm forever doing pilates, jogging, biking, walking, etc -- i'm sure it would be much worse ;) i think the degree will lessen as you continue to lose so have faith!

oh goodness.

I have that shape, have always had that shape.
Was tormented when I was in junior high and high school for having that shape.
Now that I look back on it, I wish someone would have been there to let me know it was okay to own it........

I call it "hula hooping pants"
My solution the last few years has been to make two darts on the back of whatever pants, in order to pull in the waistband and tailor the clothing a bit more. But I guess it helps to have sewing skills.
If you don't, many dry cleaners will do the alterations for you and it is not very much $$$.

and I too doubt that I will ever get away with not having the issue. Just the way I am built. Think J-lo or Beyonce on steroids.

I agree, try some of the hip hugger style of pants. Not too low, don't want any plumber crack showing.
But those styles do help alleviate some of the problem
