Everyone is always bragging on how wonderful it is to take a towncar into WDW from the airport. I just wish that one of the companies would offer a special reduced rate for a single passenger. I just can't see spending the amount a towncar costs for transportation just for myself. But, I'd really enjoy the experience. I'd be willing to spend more than for Meers, but not as much as the towncars cost. Seems like one of the companies could offer a car (not even a towncar) that would pick a person up and make the round trip for around $50. I'd be willing to pay up to that amount.

The driver still needs to make a living, the tolls still need to be paid. It would not be economical to do a r/t for $50. No matter what size car you have, there are still tolls, insurance, gas, tires, oil change, other maintainence and wear and tear, airport licensing, etc. My guess is that on a r/t, after expenses but before drivers income, it costs at least $20. Figuring that in reality it takes the driver and average of 75 minutes each way, if they are on a 60/40 or even a 70/30 split, they aren't making more than about $12 per hour. That doesn't factor in a grocery stop or delayed flight. Sooo... if they only charge $50, and have a 70/30 split with the company, and then take off the $20 in expenses, there's only $15 left over. So for a round trip they'll make $15. Figuring the average o/w takes a minimum of 75 minutes to make (arrive at airport, wait for fare and luggage, load into car, drive half and hour to 40 minutes to resort) they make $6 per hour. It's not worth it.

Carl, you're worth it! Would you pay for someone you loved to enjoy the experience of being picked up in a town car? Of course you would! just do it!! :D

I second the motion...you are worth the extra money!!!
Towncars cost a little more for hubby and I, since it is just the two of us (it seems that three and up is where it gets cheaper). But we wouldn't do it any other way. We learned about towncars from the internet after taking Mears or Transtar for a loooong time. Now we use Happy Limo for WDW and for Disney Cruise Line trips (we used to take the DCL bus to Port Canaveral because, even tho' we knew about towncars to WDW, it took us a while to realize that they are available to the port too). You are on vacation...treat yourself!! The only reason we stopped taking a limo from our house to the airport here in Chicago is that the services here are so unreliable...we nearly missed our flight last trip. But in Orlando, the service is always reliable. Splurge for a towncar...you won't regret it.
