I am sooooo excited - DD and I just finished putting together my desk that I purchased about a month ago to use for scrapbooking. I can't wait to start moving my stuff down there. It's located in a corner in the basement that will eventually be finished and be mine!!!! I bought a chair 2 weeks ago and got that put together right away. Also have this very huge entertainment center that I'm not going to use (when we finish the basement it will be actually used as an entertainment center). I just need to get a cabinet (maybe) and get some paper storage things that I found at OfficeMax that I think will work and I'll be in business!!! I'll try to take a pic of the area tomorrow night and post it here...

So...do you all have scrapbook areas of your own and what do you have????? I'm always looking for cool ideas!

Right now, our scrapbooking area is our kitchen table. We're just starting to scrapbook, so if we like it, perhaps we'll get something permanent.

About a year ago we turned our spare bedroom into a "craft room". It's wonderful. We have two 8 foot tables with shelves above and lots of space for working. I seem to have about every organizer and rolling cart known to man as well. It really works out great and gives us all a place to scrap together.

Last spring we had our basement finished and put my scrapbooking stuff in the office. I have a desk I bought at Michael's, the kids use a card table. It's convenient to have the computer in here too for the times I use it when scrapping. I just need a tall bookshelf now to hold supplies neatly and I'll be happy.;) Oh, and I'd like to suspend a little tv/vcr combo from a wall arm. ;)

My scrap space is in my diningroom. I placed a table in my front window with iris carts ( for storing punches, scissors, and misc. supplies ) and Target cubes for paper . My albums are on top of a cart beside my table held up with photo boxes which I use as bookends. My paper scraps are filed in a rolling cart w/open file folders. There is a small 3 drawer container on top of my table filled with my adhesives, scissors and corner rounder, and other small tools. I keep embellishments in craft containers and keep my CM cutting tools on top of the table in a mail holder. My stickers and Fiskars shape cutter and templates are in folders with page protectors. One day I will turn one of the kids room into my scrap space ( two are in college , but campus is only 15 minutes away from the house so they opted to stay home ), but for right now this works for me and I am able to keep it pretty organized. At least I don't have to move things when I am really busy working on a project.

You can see a pic of my space at the linc below (I have added a few things since this picture was taken ):

We have a room at the end of a hallway off our kitchen area that I think was originally built as sort of a mother in law's area or perhaps for live in help (it is an older house) that was the designated junk and storage room for more years than I'd like to count. Ok, technically it was the spare room for guests but you know how rooms like that go!

About 2 years ago I cleaned it out and now use it as my "work room". I have an 8 foot banquet style table along one wall with several carts with drawers that can slide underneat and out of the way. The opposite wall has our piano (which often serves more as stacked storage space since no one but me plays and I haven't played seriously in YEARS! BUt both kids are in vocal music so we hang onto it for pitch) Along the wall between the two there is a hide a bed/sofa. This is a great! item. Many times when I'm scrapping, sewing or working on some other project in there one of the other members of the household will come in to "sit". This is great sharing time. One of the few times those two teenagers will talk with mom and not think of it as a Spanish Inquisition! :p

I also have a large cabinet and closet storage space in another room that holds supplies for other projects such as my sewing equipment when I'm not working on that.

Chris, it sounds wonderful!! Any pictures?? :)

Nicki Dahling...very nice space you have there! I love your layouts as well!! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

My DH just set up a nice long table in one of our upstairs bedrooms...it has all my scrapbook stuff on one end and all my sewing stuff on the other end...My digital camera just broke last week, but DH bought me a new one, so as soon as we get it, I will take a picture of it...:) I have been looking in the dollar stores for different types of shelving, like the plastic trays that stack for my papers and diecuts...It is coming along and I am happy I have a place to spread everything out besides the kitchen table! LOL I also have a DVD/TV combo in the room so I can watch some movies while I scrap...actually I don't really watch, I just like the noise in the background! LOL

Thanks for all the descriptions! Your rooms all sound so nice!! :)

Thanks for the responses. I love looking at others spaces and see how they have things laid out and what they use for storage.

The problem I'm running into right now is finding something to store my 12 X 12 papers. I have been looking at those paper storage things that they have at OfficeMax but I don't know if that will hold 12 X 12. It's so hard to tell. And I've looked at the rolling cart things too and again - can they hold 12 X 12?

My approach is decidely low tech. I picked up a selection of those archival (no acid) plastic envelopes in the 12 x 12 size at my LSS. I think they were a couple bucks each. I sorted paper into types - plain, print, specific theme, etc. And then I have them in one of those plastic baskets about 8 x 12 inches in size - the storage kind. Since my LSS is nearby I don't have piles of paper - although I do have lots of cropping blocks that take up a whole drawer in their cases.

A friend of mine with LOTS of paper has an old desk that has a drawer big enough for the pendaflex hangers (a file cabinet drawer would work too) and files her paper in that.

Have you looked at the target wire cubes. I am planning to buy some today. Attached is a picture of someone's scrap room with the cube configuration. You can also buy it without the shelves between to have bigger storage. They definitely hold 12 by 12 paper. HTH, Tina

ARE YOU READY................

If you can see beyond the mess ( I am in the middle of a few projects  )

all it is -
plastic drawer type bins (Walmart $7 each) stcked 3 high - 2 sets and a two drawer filing cabinet holding up a piece of plywood covered with curtain pannels then a piece of plexiglass! DH did good by me - everything tucks underneath when I am not working - I store my stuff in portable storgage items (CropInStyle) and the plastic bins!

My current "scrap area" is in our bonus room behind a couch and in front of a window (about 6 by 12 ft). I have a corner desk with shelves and two Lg. Iris carts. I also have the cardboard drawer things that hold 12 by 12 paper, and a long shelf on the wall for albums, magazines, and idea books. My children are now at an age where they like to take my craft stuff. So my husband promised me a 14 by 14 room in the basement with a door that locks to keep the kiddies from wasting my supplies. It's now a year later and I still have only one wall. I'm thinking about hiring the project out- I'm getting impatient and my supplies are getting depleted!
