We stayed 6 nights in a standard queen room. We are a family of 4 with kids ages 12 and 10.

Concierge

We were very impressed by the concierge service. We arrived with our luggage and 8 bags of groceries! Our room wasn't ready. The concierge took our bags and put the ones that needed refrigeration in their fridge (even our "refreshments").

When we'd wait for a taxi or the park bus, they would ask us if we wanted a cold bottle of water while we waited.

When we walked to Sapphire Falls to check out the pool and it started to rain when we were there, the concierge service at SF provided free transportation back to RPR.

Our luggage and groceries were delivered promptly after contacting Star Service.

Front Desk

Front desk service was friendly although we had to wait for service. We didn't notice a dedicated line for Loewe's members.

We had requested a room close to the pool entrance in Tower 1 and our request was accommodated.

During our stay, we decided to extend our stay by one night. I went to the front desk to arrange for this. I knew that there was availability because I had gone on the Loews website. The attendant including her manager refused to give us the rate found on the Loews website (it was approx. a 70$ difference). Their solution was to go back to my room and book online and call them to see if they could connect the reservations so we wouldn't need to change rooms. We did this and it all worked out but it was surprising that they couldn't help me and do all this at the front desk while I was in front of them.

Star Service

With the press of a button on the phone, they will do their best to assist you. We called for more shampoo, no problem, more Splenda, no problem, more towels, no problem, more pillows, no problem, plates, bowls, cutlery for 4, no problem. We went to get ice down the hall and the machine wasn't working, we pressed the button to advised them and asked where else could we go for ice, they sent someone with a ice bucket to our room, no problem!!

Transportation to Parks

We did all three, by foot, by boat and by bus. I would say the most convenient is by foot as you don't have to wait and it is relatively close on a beautiful flat path with shade. We did take the boat a few times when we were lazy and it was a pleasant ride. Captains are friendly and entertaining. We also took the bus twice when it was raining. I would say that this option is the least convenient. The drop off at the park is at the entrance of the massive parkade. It's much further to walk and it was my impression that the bus was not as frequent as the boat. Also, when we took the bus back to the resort, it was not a dedicated RPR bus, we stopped at other hotel prior to our stop.

Food

We only ate at Jake's and Tchoup Chop. Both were pleasant experiences and deserve their own reviews. There are quite a few dinning options at the resort.

Pool

The pool is nice and relatively clean although I question having ducks swim in it. It's quite big and there's room enough for everybody. They have some tubes and beach balls for use. There is also a net that you can use. Plenty of chairs. I found that the pool towels were often stained which diminished the resort experience.

Spa/Hot tub

We experienced the 2 hot tubs, only one had jets on while we were there. They are in the pool area but somewhat hidden behind shrubs and trees. These are deep tubs. I was chest deep in the middle. When I went one evening, there was a little girl about 4 that was there by herself. The middle of the hot tub was over her head. I asked her where her parents were. She said her mom was laying on a chair by the pool. I felt obligated to stay until she left the hot tub! I found it interesting and scary that there are lifeguards all over the pool area but none near the hot tubs. This is a tragedy waiting to happen with so many little kids running around. Plus one of the hot tubs is very near the splash pads used by the smaller kids.

Rooms

Room was nice and newly decorated. A bit smaller than the Hard Rock rooms. I don't like where the Keurig is. It makes it difficult to make coffee in the morning although it is out of the way when you're not using it. The door to the toilet and shower is a sliding frosted glass door with no lock. I felt that the door would fly off when I'd open it. It could lack privacy for some. I enjoyed the shower. Along with a shower head, It had a hand held shower which was nice to have. No tub in our room although I have read that some rooms have tubs. The beds were very comfortable.

Housekeeping

The only issue with housekeeping was on one day they didn't make one of the beds. There was nothing on the bed, no suitcase or clothes. I called to ask why but I never found out why.

We would stay here again if going to Universal Studios and the price was lower than the Hard Rock. We prefer the Hard Rock because the rooms are bigger and it is a little closer to the parks.

The dedicated Loews members check in line was removed at least 8 years ago

Sounds like you enjoyed the stay at rpr

Adding nights while staying at the hotel makes you pay the current price
What you did by just adding the night online is how most peeps add nights while there

Definitely don't use the bus unless you have to.

The pool is nice and relatively clean although I question having ducks swim in it.

I'm sure RPR doesn't *want* the ducks in there lol. Ive seen ducks in all the pools I've been to at Uni and WDW. Ducks are the bane of my friend-with-a-pool's existence at home too.

RPR will get snakes out of (or away from) the pool but ducks aren't a priority.

OP - was this your first stay? Thanks for sharing your take

We are very fond of the few ducks who call the pool home, mascots. Pains me to see parents let their little darlings chase them about. As to sanitary, well, they are smaller than most kids lol. You know the ones who must have the world's biggest bladders since they stay in the pools for hours upon end (feel free to insert ew here).

The pools are closely monitored and closed when the levels aren't 'right'. I have no worries about their sanitary level or Disney's, both are really on top of it.

You were lucky to be able to extend your stay and not have to change rooms. Odd as to them not being able to continue whatever rate you originally booked...or were you trying to add the last night under a different rate? Nice to hear it worked out for you.

Haven't seen the Loews youfirst line operational in years there either, wish they'd offer it, at least for platinum & those paying club or suite rates.

Thanks for the review. Did you ever have a chance to go back to Sapphire Falls to use their pool?

Another thanks, OP, for the trip report! My husband and I are going to try RPR for one night in February, in the middle of our WDW trip. Your information makes me even happier to have picked RPR!

We just returned from our first stay at a Universal resort at Royal Pacific. We loved everything about it. So much so that we have another Universal stay coming up in February and just changed it from Cabana Bay to RPR. After being spoiled with the great boat ride to Universal, the included Express Pass and how lovely the resort and grounds are, the extra $100 per night seems worth it to us.
