I wanted to post my quick reviews on some of the restaurants we went to during our visit last week and the week before:
Our party consisted of 3 adults (36, 37, 38) and two children (3 yrs and 1 yr). We were not on the dining plan.
Whispering Canyon Café: After reading all of the reviews on this board, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We had a fabulous dinner. All of us had the all-you-can-eat skillet. The meats, potatoes and corn-on-the-cob were delicious. I didnt care much for the baked beans. All of the adults had the bottomless milkshakes. The orange one was to die for! The kids had mac and cheese (standard kids mac). There were lots of antics going on in the restaurant while we were there really fun. I ordered a vanilla milkshake and then wanted to try the orange. I asked the waiter for a half-glass and he brought me a tiny, tiny glass with a straw about 4x as long as a regular one. It was very funny! I can see how the noise could really get to you in this restaurant, but we thought it was fun.
Off Disney property Bahama Breeze: This is a fabulous restaurant off Disney property that we just LOVED. There are several around the Disney area. We visited the ones at Lake Bryan and Clearwater. I had a fabulous shrimp and lobster pasta yum! DH had the almond-crusted mahi-mahi which was also delicious. Fun restaurant with a island feel and great drinks! They have a website if you want to check out the menu!
Sci-Fi Dine in (lunch) the atmosphere in this restaurant is so fun! We really enjoyed it. My parents joined us for this meal and they were raving about the darkness being just what they needed as a break from the Florida sun. We sat in a car with 3 seats of 2 people. Not the best for conversation, but fun just the same. The food was standard burgers, fries, milkshakes all very good. DH had the Reuben and enjoyed it as well. We had onion rings for an appetizer and they were delicious.
50s Prime Time Café (dinner) Another fun place. Our waitress was really great, which added to the experience. The fried herb cheese appetizer wasnt great. It came with two very small and hard pieces of bread. Not great for sharing. I enjoyed the salmon (cant remember what everyone else ordered). Our friend ordered the Dads super sundae for dessert definitely huge and he enjoyed it. I wouldnt return here for the food, but the atmosphere was a great throwback to the past.
San Angel Inn (lunch) lovely atmosphere, although it was a little too dark for my liking. It was so dark I couldnt see into the diaper bag to find our young sons food. I was afraid I was dropping our belongings all over the floor! We got a seat right next to the water/ride which was nice. Standard Mexican fare. Im not a big Mex. fan, but Dh and his friend (who are) loved it. They could use a few more non-Mexican childrens items on the childrens menu. My kids were sick of chicken fingers and dont like Mexican. A+ for atmosphere in this restaurant.
Counter service restaurant at the USA pavilion at EPCOT (dinner) had hot dogs and fries which were good, nothing special.
Tonys Town Square (lunch) good Italian food right inside the gates of the MK. Some of us had pizza, some had baked ziti, all good. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.
Cosmic Rays counter service (dinner) more hot dogs and fries, rotisserie chicken was really good. Triple chocolate cake came pre-packaged in a plastic bowl with lid. I was hoping for something more home-made!
Restaurantosaurus (lunch) typical McDonalds food very busy. We were third in line of about 50 people when they opened at 11:30.
Chef Mickeys (breakfast) we loved the food and the character interaction. Would definitely go here next year. Buffet offerings were good and plentiful something for everyone. Definitely make ADRs.
Kona Café (dinner) we ended up here after touring hotels by monorail. We were pleasantly surprised. The macadamia mahi-mahi was to die for! YUM! DH had beef teriyaki and also enjoyed it. The kids enjoyed the PB and J with goldfish crackers. Well definitely return to this restaurant.
Off Disney property Giordanos Pizza on hwy 192 crowded and very hot, but the deep dish pizza was delicious. Ive heard that you can order for delivery at Disney resorts. They have a website you can check out.
We had some GREAT meals on our vacation. We cant wait to go back to some of our favorites. I hope these reviews will help someone there are so many choices, arent there? Feel free to ask questions Id be happy to help!
