We just got back, and I know there has been some talk about the beds at DI&S so I thought I'd give a quick review. We stayed in room 525 (top floor suite)

Check in was easy. Parking was fine, but we were there on a Tuesday in the slow season. We didn't try to move the car at all. I've heard parking is a nightmare so we just got lucky I guess.

There is only ONE main elevator. This is kind of a pain. It is SLOW. It's faster to walk down the stairs than to take it, but of course with a stroller this isn't always possible. This wasn't a deal breaker for us though, just inconvenient.

Breakfast is VERY meager, but it's fine. Cinnamon pastries (which were tasty!) apples, oranges and I think that's it. We ate at McDonalds though which was a 5 minute walk.

Beds are FIRM but neither myself or my MIL w/ recent back surgery found them uncomfortable. I did bring my own pillow though, the ones they had were kind of on the flat side. We slept fine.

NOISE is a problem. We had some neighbors yelling at their kids at 11 PM last night, but I called the front desk and asked them to call and they did immediately. We had a white noise machine, but I still heard things. I'm a very light sleeper though. I slept fine though because I was SO dead tired.

The rooms are very clean. There is minor cosmetic damage that if repaired would make the whole place seem a little nicer but it's on par with a super 8. We had plenty of towels and hot water.

We did not use the internet.

Oh, and I did something I NEVER do, just for you my friends. I walked around barefoot one night just to see how bad the carpet was. And it wasn't. There was nothing on my feet. Of course, I still wiped them off before I climbed in bed, but I thought I'd let you know that the carpet won't turn your toddlers feet black :)

We'd stay there again in a heart beat. You can't beat the location. It was SO nice at the end of the day to return in less than 10 minutes. I love HoJo's but at the end of a long day, that 1/2 mile seems like 1000 miles.

We were there from the 1-6. I agree the beds were firm but fine. We were also on the 5th floor in 507 and had no issue with noise, except in the morning when people started showering you could hear the water running through the pipes. I loved the jacuzzi tub at the end of the day! We did try to use the internet and it was VERY slow, at times you could not even get on. I also would stay there again based on the bathtub and location.

How far out did you have to book, or was there another way you got a $59 rate?

There is a trick with the internet. DI has several hot spots. If I'm getting slow response I just click on another hotspot. It really depends on your room location. I know I pick up several other hotel's wifi.

I've mentioned it before, but I find the Grand Californian much more noisy than DI. I hear every toilet flush and shower from nearby neighbors. Of course GC is a whole different experience, but I think DI's noise level is the same as POP in WDW.

The earlier reservation the better. We have scored the biggest suite, sleeping ten for a little over a hundred dollars a night, if we book in advance.

Now I booked the same suite in August for 209. Incredible price for my family in summer. Just can't beat it!

So the carpet thing totally made my day. Thanks Todzwife! I LOL'd but it's seriously a huge concern here LOL

We have never heard a peep when we stayed there, not a peep. Open the sliders are different and we have stayed in DTD view, standard and the villas.

I've heard both of those opinions about DI&S numerous times..I wonder if it matters what area of the hotel you're in. Perhaps some rooms were redone with more insulation or something. Interesting!

I would ask for a higher floor. We usually stay on the 3rd floor at DI. We don't bother with the elevator and take the stairs. I HATE stairs, but these have a low raise and are easy to climb.

Maybe the Villas are quieter than the main building at GC?
