Remember the plumeria stick  I bought at WDW in Oct? Well, in my infinite gardening wisdom I thought I would wait until spring to plant it. It's been sitting in my kitchen garden window, wrapped in tissue paper, minding its own business since our trip. I unwrapped it yesterday and it is soft. If I remember correctly, the stick was stick hard when I bought it. Does this mean it's dead? Is there any chance it will root?

Clueless as usual...

If it is brown and shribbled, then it is no longer good.
You could try putting it in the dirt though and see how it does before tossing it out.

It is starting to shivel in the middle section but is still green. I went ahead and planted it according to the directions. We shall see. Anyone coming over to my house is going to wonder why I've planted a shriveled stick. :earboy2:

Ha Ha!! LOL!

Ours arent shriveled (knock on wood) but they are sticks! How long before they show signs of life? We purchased ours at DTD and hoping they root.

I usually have a couple plants that end up looking like shriveled sticks too, Mary. ;) :)

I remember someone (maybe Marlasmom?), posting about the plumeria bought at DTD, and that it wasn't very reliable.

I hope your planting recovers Mary, and I'd love to hear from anyone who's had success with their DTD plumeria purchases! :)

I think it may have rotted from keeping it wrapped. It needs to be kept dry and in the dark before it is planted. The first one I bought at Epcot (the land) 2 years ago had that problem. The one I bought a year ago is doing great and has grown about 2 inches. It has not bloomed thought, and did not go dormant this year as I expected it to. I suspect moving it to our southern exposure sun room has thrown it off.

Darn! I did keep it wrapped in tissue paper but not plastic. I guess if it doesn't grow I'll have to plan another trip to WDW. ;)

I have 3 plants from the Land at Epcot. They are 2 yrs old now and 2x's in size. No flowers yet. I think I might see flowers this year.Good luck with your plant! I would try a plant light to help it along. Its going to need alot of light and a warm area to make it after being out too long.

Sanddune, has yours ever dropped the leaves? I keep expecting mine too, but it hasn't yet. It also seems to have stopped growing for the past couple of weeks, so maybe it's getting ready to do that.

My plants have been dropping leaves.I've been leting mine go thru seasons. Yours may be going into a dormant stage.Sunlight effects the growth speed. So if you are like Michigan sunlight is hard to find.If you want it to grow more add fertilizer and more light. Let me know if you see flowers! I can't wait to see some!
PS. I do not have a southern window. That would help alot! They are more than likely getting enough light to keep the leaves. Just not to grow more right now.Hope this helps.
