My points went into holding by MISTAKE!

just a note to remind everyone to check their points every so often. I had one night reserved in November 2022 that I no longer wanted, so I cancelled. We are in September - so definitely more than the 31 days out. Yesterday, I called MS to make a reservation that was going to require some OTU points. CM kindly explained I had 13 points in holding, so I wouldn't be able to use them until 60 days prior to the reservation.
Wait - did she say I had points in holding??

Sure enough, when my November reservation cancelled, those points went into holding. MS isn't sure why it happened. It took a little extra time on hold, but the points were backed out and corrected.
Lesson learned!
 
I had them swap current points for banked points - and they asked me for my CC to purchase 20 points to make the reservation. I had to explain that it was a 155-point week regardless of if I used banked or current points. Somehow they lost 20 points in the transaction and it took over an hour to " find " them.
 

Last year I had points that were clearly not ours on a contract. I had to call and work my way up the ladder to have DVC correct their mistake. Thankfully, a CM took it upon himself to figure it out and sure enough, they were not our points.

The risk to us was using the contract with those extra points put us at risk of auditing finding them and cancelling a reservation even if we were using *our* points. The CM agreed DVC's mistake put us at risk of showing up with no villa available. Agreed - watch your contracts!

The CM said that points get " lost in the system" That makes me as an IT guy laugh because computers would need to be programmed to be bad at math. I think that 50% of what they do are manual edits in the system and human error / insufficient software is causing this.

Agreed - I'm also a lifer IT guy, and that explanation just doesn't cut it. Human error either with the program or with manual entry. Blaming the computer is just something people say! In the long run, the computers only do what the humans ask it to do!
 
Well then maybe Disney's IT people are not really humans, maybe Disney's is now using Robots like R2D2 since they wouldn't have to pay then and Big Boy Bob can save more money.
