My Points point confusion - Updated with email correspondence

I'm fairly new to the whole rewards program situation. I've been accumulating points at My Points for a couple of months now. I checked my points this morning for some purchases I've made recently and here's what I got.

On 9/10 I purchased 2 Terra Cotta Mickey lanterns for Halloween. they were $19.99 each. After applying my DC discount, the total charge was $42.16.

Since they are running the Double Points promotion, I expected to receive 4 points per dollar - 42 x 4 = 168 points. I currently have 129 points pending for this purchase - that's 3 points per dollar. :confused: Am I missing something here or have they screwed up?

I've also had Barnes & Noble points that have been "pending" for a couple of months now.
 
I've also been having trouble with them lately. Several purchases have not shown up. They do always respond to my emails, but it is alot of trouble to get what they've promised. No wonder places can afford to do this, half the time I bet people just give up without getting their points or prizes.

Could they have possibly mixed up the points for Barnes & Noble and your Mickey lanterns? In any case, I would e-mail them about it and send a copy of your order confirmations. I have found them to be easy to work with on correcting mistakes. Hope you have the same experience!
 
I almost never get the points I'm supposed to get without e-mailing them the confirmation, but once I do that I have always gotten prompt, courteous replies from mypoints. The one thing I have noticed is that you don't get points for the costs of shipping, so if you haven't already done so deduct the shipping costs before multiplying X 4. Good luck.
 

I am having trouble with them as well..remember that great Overstock.com deal back in May (videos as low as $5.99 w/ no shipping charges & 400 mypoints per purchase!). The link (at that time) never said anything about one time only or once per month. After I bought the videos (5/24) & waited 30 days, they then said I would get the points once a month for 5 months.

Now, 2 months into things, they are saying I can only get credited for overstock.com once per year-lol!!!! I am emailing back and forth again & forwarding them their old emails promising me the points. Hopefully they will stand by their word.

Good luck with the pending points, they are probably mixed with another purchase!
 
I never did get my 400 points for Overstock.com. Did most people? I bought a lot of stuff during the double points (back to school shopping) and I can't figure out what I have been credited for. Does anybody know if they post the 4 points per dollar in pending or if they post 2 points per dollar and then the extra points show up later.

I don't know if I am making any sense.
 
Ok. I sent MyPoints an email about this issue. Below is what I wrote:

I recently made a purchase (9/10/02) at the Disneystore.com in the amount of $42.16. For this purchase, I expected to receive a minimum of 168 points due to your double points promotion. The points awarded (pending) on my account are only 129 - which would be 3 points per dollar, rather than 4. Could you
please explain and/or correct this discrepancy. I've pasted a copy of the disneystore order confirmation below.

So this looks like a standard response to me. He did not address my actual question. What do you think?
 
That does sound like a standard response and also sounds like he didn't really pay much attention to your question.

I would email them again and ask them to provide specific information about the 129 points that they credited you with ( which merchant, date and amount of purchase). If they have to actually look at the data they posted maybe it will prompt them to make the correction.

They have always been good to correct mistakes for me, but you do sometimes have to e-mail twice. It may be that they will make you wait the normal 30 days for points to credit before they will address the problem.

I would email them back. I've had to email them about several things lately. Seems like first they say they got your email and are looking into it, then you get the one like you showed above, then finally they will say they will be credited in so many days. Sometimes it even takes another email before they show up. Also on some things it is business days, not calendar days.
 
when you email them make sure it's the same email account they have lsited. I learned that the hard way!

also, the B&N points took about 5 weeks to post for me.

otherwise they've responded pretty well. I usually get the standard response first, then write back and they respond specifically
 
I had problems getting my points from the Overstock.com purchase. It took 3 emails then the points went into a pending stage for over 30 days. I cashed out and now my spent points are in a pending hold. I don't get it. How can spent points be pending for a confirmation. I cashed out my DH a week before I did my account he got his GC within 2 weeks. I'm still waiting.:confused:
 
That is the standard response I seem to get all the time. I've had to "fight" for most of my shopping points at MyPoints. I email them at least 3 times per purchase -- after waiting the required time period. Usually they credit me after another week or two. It takes forever -- but I just got my $25 webbie -- and then it's all worth it -- I think! :rolleyes:
