My Points--less 5 pointers lately?

I usually get about 5-8 My Points emails a day that give you five points just for reading them. Lately, I've noticed fewer of them. some days I don't get any, and some days only one or two. I use my MyPoints to top off my Hilton Honors account. They transfer very fast, usually in 24 hours. Has anyone else noticed less MyPoints emails lately?

I wonder if MyPoints typically goes like that--perhaps they have a slow time during certain months? I've been using them for less than a year so I don't have any past history to go on. Anyone else have a feel for their patterns? I've also noticed you oftentimes don't get the shopping bonuses. There were at least 5000 points I should have received for Christmas shopping that never showed up in my account. With everything else I have on my mind at Christmas, chasing down reward points is at the bottom of my list! However, I take whatever I can. It has helped top off my Hilton Honors account to bring me up to an award level.

I have noticed fewer in the last few days, nowever I can't say this is the 1st time I have ever noticed it. I have had dry spells before.

I have done this program for about 3 years now and it seems like it's slowly giving less points as time goes by. They used to have more bonus shopping programs around the holidays too. Seems there are fewer opportunities to accumulate points these days.

I have not gotten a MyPoints email in a week. Used to get them every day.

Hmmm, weird. Just going back over the last week I had 7 (!) last Wednesday, 2 last Thursday, 2 yesterday, and 1 today. And one yesterday was for 1-800-Contacts (Grrr, can't belive I ordered while they weren't offering points). There have certainly been times before in the last 4 years where I wonder if I'll ever get an email again, however, so I would say there are certainly dry spells.

Good to know that MyPoints goes incycles with some dry spells. I use MyPoints to top off my Hilton Honors account. Whenever I have 1000 points I immediately transfer it. I was getting a little anxious that perhaps MyPoints was going to fold up, but I guess its just a cycle. I find rewards programs such as these are best when you use them consistently for one goal. They simply don't accumulate fast enough when you spread them around. My goal is to have 5 nights at a Hilton in Hawaii our next trip, which is next year. So far, I have half of what I need and plenty of time. I think that's the key to any of these programs--give them time.
