My Plans for Tomorrowland...for what it's worth

The state of Tomorrowland has been an issue for DLR for many years, so I have decided to help out and plan Disney’s next big project for them. In hopes of “the magic” delivering this message to Imagineers and execs, I will share my ideas here. This plan revolves around using the drawing power and marketability of Star Wars to make TL one of the elite lands of all the Disney Parks.

First, tear out Autopia, Astro Orbiters, and all unnecessary structures associated with the defunct People Mover/Rocket Rods.

Next, convert the Innovations building into the Death Star with interactive displays, films, and memorabilia inside.

New Eatery—Mos Eisley Cantina. It will have Tatooine scenery and architecture and counter service outside. Inside will be table service along with the bar counter from the movie recreated to serve soda-shop-style drinks and shakes. The room will also feature statues of Greedo, Han, and the like as well as occasional character appearances. Luke’s Landspeeder will be parked out front for pictures.

Speeder Bikes—The Endor Forrest will be recreated on a majority of the Autopia space, and guests will climb onto a Speeder Bike that seats 3-4 people in-line. Two bikes will board at a time, and they will chase and pass each other on tracks trough the forest. At one point, the two will ride side by side and lunge toward each other like in the movie. Ewoks, wrecked speeders, Imperial Scout Walkers, and the shield generator bunker will decorate the forest.

TIE Fighter—In the queue, guests are enlisted by the Empire as TIE Fighter pilots and given “motivational” words by Darth Vader. Then they will board TIE Fighter-shaped vehicles armed with blaster cannons and shoot, BLAB-style (or perhaps the ride could be done TSMM-4D-style. This would be very cool if the vehicle also raised and lowered to multiple levels of screens), at A-,B-,X-,and Y-Wings throughout the star-studded dark ride. Eventually, the TIE is damaged by the Millenium Falcon (the vehicle will shake a little), forcing guests to return to the docking bay.

Degobah Swamp—In this boat ride, passengers will float through the swamps near Yoda’s home. After the boat is jostled by a dragonsnake (the swamp creature that tried to eat R2D2) and buzzed by one of the flying creatures, the riders will see scenes of Artoo fighting with Yoda, Luke in training, and Yoda lifting an X-wing from the swamp. After unloading, guests will exit through the Dark Side Cave where they will be able to look in a mirror and see themselves in a Vader helmet.

The music of John Williams and Skywalker Sound effects will permeate the rides, and the possibilities for decorations are endless.

Wait wait you actually are giving your ideas to Disney? Or this is what you would like to see happen to Tomorrowland? Either way you have very good ideas:)

I totally agree with removing autotopia and astro orbiters. But I think they should keep the people mover or at least the track and turn it into something new yet nostalgic(:

While I love Star Wars I just do not think it should be the total focus of tomorrowland, it just... doesn't feel Disney? :confused3 I love your immagery and ideas they are fantastic, they just seem out of place. But that is my input and i am no professional. :rotfl2:

It would be cool though to see a "futuristic" version of yesterday. If that makes sense. Put a spin on rides that are no longer there, but make them better. Or rides and attractions that were just Walt's ideas that were never put into action. Give old a new and thrilling face lift. Turn non thrill rides into thrill rides while maintaining integrity. hahah It would make the die-hard fans and original guests happy and feel like Walt is still there while providing new and thrilling attractions. Again I am no professional and these are my personal ideas.... and I have been secretly waiting for the day that autotopia will leave us forever :rotfl2:

I'd love to hear what happens and good luck! :D

I'm not into Star Wars. The rides you describe at least sound good.

Got any other ideas so Tomorrowland isn't now Star Wars land?

Okay, so Star Wars Land was a little much. :goodvibes I'll settle for just the Speeder Bikes and the Cantina. Maybe that would be enough to get a couple SW weekends like they have in WDW.

New plan for Innoventions: Phineas & Ferb theme. The building will still be full of interactive displays and technological innovations, but they are P&F's summertime creations. Live characters and decor will match the theme. An Agent Perry ride would be constructed inside the building, wherein riders foil one of Doofenshmirtz's plans.

WALL-E Ride: Story-based dark ride. I'm not sure how much of the story it would include, but it would need to feature escaping from the jettisoned pod, floating through space with the fire extinguisher, and returning to the ship.

John Carter or Tron: I don't know enough about JC, but it has sticking potential. A Tron ride would be an opportunity to unload stores of Tron merchandise.

Also, I apologize if I should have posted this in the Community Forum. I realize that this thread is just to spark creative discussion rather than provide information.

But Star Wars is set "a long time ago." How is that relevant to "Tomorrow"land'?

I think Autotopia & Astro Orbitor are a significant contribution to Tomorrowland... for the very young. I don't think these should be touched for a good long time. (The Orbitor's last remod is great!) Some futuristic decor updates in Autotopia would be nice however. A long time ago Disney had an encyclopedia with many futuristic models/ pictures in it. Those pics would make an excellent backdrop update.

As for Innovations building... it is very sad. No one EVER states "I want to go there first!"

I agree it should eventually be repurposed. Perhaps an indoor Tron ride? INSIDE a computer world? Would be cool! But would it conflict w/ ElecTRONica? Or compliment it? All I know is that the latest tech can be showcased there, and make the line almost an attraction in itself!

As for the existing Rocket Rods track, I enjoyed the Rocket Rods, especially when they went through the Start Tours facility... very cool!
Little ones would still enjoy something like that. Notice there are no "Meet The Robinson's" rides? Maybe another 'people mover' ride based on "Bubble Transport" technology? "KEEP MOVING FORWARD"!

BTW - The Star Tours ride... it bothers me that we never see the ships "leaving" the spaceport (like we see airplanes taking off @ airports).... would be good to somehow incorporate that.

I love this idea about the Bubble Transport. It mixes the tradition of the people mover with a more modern theme (and people won't be able to jump out of the bubbles and die like on the PM :thumbsup2).

I thought I read that ElecTRONica will be replaced by a Mad T Party dance club soon, so a Tron ride in TL would work out great.

What about everyone else? If you could add one ride anywhere in DLR, what would it be?

Love all these ideas! I don't love autopia now but it was one of my faves as a kid-being able to drive myself was so cool. They need to do a major rehab, add some theming and landscaping.

all good ideas...tommorowland is too much bad 80s land right now...it needs some sprucing up.

maybe something like this...

convert innovations into something else anything else really...even bathrooms would be cooler :lmao:

change the pizza place into a better theme restaurant

convert autopia into spaceshiptopia so little ones can still ride it but it would more modern (WALL E theme might fit well here)

I would love a star wars themed area but that's just wishful thinking on my geeky behalf. ;)

why not just call it Star Wars land?

I like the cantina restuarant idea though

Even though the autotopia ride is nostalgic what about the "future" does it represent? Those cars represent older cars than what we have now. Maybe they could turn it into the recliner transport like in the movie WallE or
thats what they can do with the people mover turn it into the lines that the robots and recliners follow all over the ship and have it stop at the beauty chair where the animatronic robots come out and do their thing lol

As for Captain EO theater I think they should do something with Phineas and Ferb 4D!!! Phineas and Ferb are always inventing things of the future and with as popular as they are now it is the perfect time to put them in that theater and they invent the perfect things that could make it 4D in that theater!

And WHAT is that thing on tjop of the people mover can we put something there maybe?

Autopia is one of the most futuristic attractions in the land. There are people on it right now expeirencing something that will happen in 2025. They are 4 and can drive.

:lmao:

My DD4 was just creating vehicles on the video game "Spore" today. I'm sure she thinks she's ready to drive.
