I don't have a pellet, but this fall we replaced our fireplace with a Fireplace Xtrordinaire - sort of a hybrid stove/fireplace. Well, the oil man has been here once and he only needed to fill up 1/2 a tank!

My neighbor has a Pellet and loves his. He stocks the garage with bags of Pellets in the early fall, but I'm not sure how fast he's going through them.

I didn't like ours. It was noisy and messy - but a whole lot better than wood. I saw a story on the news that said the price of pellets has tripled in the last three weeks. I hope you got a bunch stored away already!

Caveat - we had a Jamestown Baby Bear stove which we bought about 7 years ago. The stoves may have improved a lot since then! I hope you like yours.

we had a pellet stove in our first house. It was a raised ranch...the downstairs wasn't finished when we bought it...we finished it ourselves and, instead of running pipes for heating, we put a pellet stove in. It got the house NICE and toasty! That thing was great!

some models are "louder" then others...the fan on ours was kinda loud, but my FIL has one and it's really quiet. all depends on the model you get.

and, yes, you HAVE to stock up early on the pellets for the heating season...start stockpiling over the summer! since the price of oil/natural gas has gone up so high...people bought these as other sources of heat, causing quite a demand of pellets.
