My pal Mickey interactive

They're currently going for around $75-$80 on ebay. I've seen them go for as much as $150.

Are you able to hear it very well with him on your belt? Ours has the clip, but when he's at our waist, we can't hear him.

Ours has the clip, too, and we have to hold him to our ear to hear him. He'll only go back if dd wants to bring him. As far as I'm concerned he can stay home LOL

Your Pal was not "updated" (as in "received new info to bring him up-to-date.")

What was done by the CM was a "reboot" (using an infrared transfer via a sensor in Mickey's nose.)

No new info or word phrases were added (as that kind of situation was not possible with the kind of memory devices used to operate Pal Mickey.)

What the CM did (and I had it done to my 1st generation Pal) is like when your computer or smart phone needs to be restarted to get rid of pesky system glitches.

Hmm...I thought that he had the newer information.

I've slept since then, though. Plus, I've tried to block out most of that trip. It will be the LAST time I vacation with my SIL. :rotfl:

He "giggles" and vibrates to let you know that he has something to say so we just lift him to listen. We don't have a problem hearing him and he will repeat what he said if you press his hand.

That's what we had to do (take him off our belts). It became a pain in the rear, though.

Exactly! I figure that DD will want to bring him. Maybe he can find a home on our sit-n-stand stroller...

I think I will take ours out for our next trip....this thread has me remembering how cute he is.....a question though...if he freezes up will they still know how to "reboot" him?

I love my pal! He is my avatar. He "updates" when you go through turnstiles so that he knows he is in the park. He worked perfectly last fall!

We used our's once for a couple hours. He has been in plastic since and I don't know that we will ever use him again. For us, it was a waste of money.

Have him, love him, bringing him in July. Gives kids something to do while waiting in lines

Bought mine for around 20 bucks on ebay a five or six years back.I really enjoy him,he has some neat stuff to say and I always bring him along on every trip. However I am really just a big kid at heart!

I don't know where you'd take him at WDW anymore.

But, very likely, if your Pal has any problems, they can usually be solved by removing the old set of batteries, then putting in a fresh set of AA's. :thumbsup2

We have two Pals and love them. I don't bring them to every park every day, even so still worth bring him along.

I had also been told they would update Pal Mickey, if he did not update himself upon entry to the parks. Not with new saying and games, but with park info.

With his vibrating when he has some thing to say, you hardly miss when he is trying to get your attention. :lmao:

Playing with Pal in lines or waiting for the MSEP ect, is much easier at keeping the magic going, then letting the kids play on their DSI.:rotfl:

Just about the same here. I bought mine when they very first came out. I remember someone here on the DIS posted a site that had them alot cheaper than they were in the parks. It was some warehouse place in Florida. I paid a little over $20.00 for him. I had my son and grand daughter with me that trip and thought my GD would like him. He was fine the first day or two, but by the third day, my son asked me how much I paid for him and offered to buy me another one at the end of the trip if I'd let him throw him in one of the canals.:rotfl: He really got to be irritating with all his chatter and none of us wanted to carry him around, plus his clip kept coming loose and he'd fall off. I took him back one more time a few months later. For that trip I used a zip tie around his neck to which I had attached a cabiner clip. The cabiner clip works alot better than the clip that comes on him. After that second trip, I never took him back again. For the last several years he has sat up on a shelf in my computer room.:rotfl: No way would I pay $75.00-$150.00 for one. That's ridiculous! I think mine was like $22.00-$25.00.

Is there any difference between the 3 versions?

Not enough to really matter much.

There are three models of Pal Mickey (and they ALL still work in all WDW theme parks).

V1 - Pal Mickey "Classic" (that's what I call MINE). V1 comes dressed in the classic Mickey of red shorts outfit.

V2 - Pal Mickey "50th Anniversay Special Edition" (HCoE). V2 comes dressed in a black TUXEDO.

V3 - Pal Mickey "Year of Million Dreams." (Current Model) V2 comes dressed in the Sorcerer's Apprentice Robe and pointed hat. (He ALSO has on a shorts outfit on under the robe.)

You can find Pal Mickey's on eBay. You can tell which model he is by the outfit.

The V1 Pals where $50 when new.

V2 and V3 Pals were $65 when new at WDW.

There is not really a LOT of difference between them, except:

V2 and V3 PM "speak" a bit louder than V1.

V2 and V3 PM can describe the few newer attractions that weren't open when the "classic" PM was first introduced. (Not a big deal.)

V2 and V3 PM has a slightly larger "library" of things he can say (and sing!)

Thanks so much for this great break down! Is there any reason why some of the inserts (the plastic body part where the batteries go & the speaker) are white and some are yellow?

Different production runs, I'd guess.

If you go way back here on the DIS, when they first came out, someone posted a link to some Warehouse place in Florida that was selling them for like half off. I wonder if that place still sells them? Again I paid twenty something for mine and he was brand new, still in the box.

They were selling the remaining supply of the previous versions when the new models came out.
They only had them for a couple of weeks at a time.
Then, the supply ran out.
