My Ol' Pal Mickey

Quick question...

We have the older version of MPM- we purchased him early in 2004. I decided to pop some batteries in him and see what he'd tell me- and he's simply repeating himself! No matter which hand I press!

Is he just old and worn down? (We used him on our honeymoon trip and since then, he has been in my curio cabinet- so no, we didn't abuse the poor ol' mouse!) Or am I doing something wrong? LOL!

Hmmm...try this. Take out his batteries. Make sure his switch is in the off position. Reinsert fresh batteries. Turn him on. Sqeeze his tummy and then both hands. This should reset him. But, if he continues to repeat himself, he may have to be rebooted at one of the parks.

We had a similar situation last week with our older version of Pal mickey, although it was even newer than yours (just barely). I took it to MouseGears in Epcot, and talked to a CM there. She took me to the store manager. The manager tried another set of new batteries, and tried to "reprogram" him. Nothing worked. So she offered to exchange him for me to the current Sorceror pal mickey. Since the original costs were not equal, it cost me about $15. I was happily surprised, and thought this was quite generous. My pal mickey had only spent 8 total days out of his box, and was otherwise carefully stored in MY room (so the kids didn't have access to him during storage). Nonetheless, he WAS a couple of years old.

Perhaps if you take your Pal Mickey back to WDW, they will try the same things too, and if all else fails, perhaps make you the same offer they made me.

I agree! We had a problem with the Pal Mickey we bought last year, and when we took him to a shop they exchanged him, no questions asked. If you have an older version you may have to pay the difference, but it'll be better than paying $65 for a new one.
