OK, I'm coming out of lurkdom because I want to share this great experience with people who appreciate Disney Magic! But I decided first I would introduce myself!

My name is Jenni, married 12 yrs this August. DD is 3 next month...the light of our lives. We have always been Disney fans, but after struggling with infertility 6 yrs, it was too hard to visit the parks & be reminded of what we didn't have. :sad1: But, now we have DD & just HAD to take her on her first trip this past May! We had a great time, mostly because we did a LOT of lurking on the DIS boards!! We loved it so much that we are taking advantage of the free dining & going back again in Sept! Our DD is now a Disney fanatic, and having an Ariel bday party in 3 wks!

Now for the Disney Magic! One night we were in Downtown Disney. At the Christmas store, I went up to an artist (an older lady...maybe 70?) & asked if they could personalize an ornament for my DD on the spot. She said yes, asked what I wanted...I told her my dd name, spelled it, and 2005. As we were talking, I noticed she was from my old hometown, the quad-cities, IA-IL. We started talking & she mentioned another town in IL. I said, oh, I was born in Monmouth! She said, "so was I! What was your maiden name?" I told her, the same name as my daughter! We gave her my maiden name as my Dad was the only son & had 3 daughters. She said, "are you any relation to Ross ____?" :earseek: I almost fell over & immediately got tears in my eyes! I told her that was my grandfather! She knew him & my grandmother. They were prominent members of their community & she worked at the paper. She said she must have written articles about my grandparents nearly every day! I never knew my grandfather, he died before I was born. I aspire to be like my grandmother, who is now 93. It was sooooo magical to hear this lady tell stories about them...truly DISNEY MAGIC!

Sorry that was so long, but I have been meaning to share this here since I got back! I know I have read so many negative things about Disney experiences, I just really wanted to share my positive experience!!

What a wonderful experience for you!

I struggled with infertility too and we adopted. I turned 38 and something changed because two babies in two years. I am NOT saying this will happen to anyone else. I know the statistics and I am an odd duck. I just want to tell you that I know how hard it is to look at people happy with children when you want one so badly. Congratulations on becoming a Mom.

What a great story! I know that area well! I went to grad school at Western Illinois and drove thru Monmouth many times!

Thank you for sharing it,I love to see a post like this.We hope to see you on the boards often.Thank you again for taking the time to post and share the magic of WDW. :goodvibes :earsboy: :wizard:

Thanks for sharing your wonderful story! It is nice to hear a happy story on here once in a while. I wish there were more nice posts like that one. I've found it pays to strike up a conversation with the people you encounter in Disney as you never know where it will lead. I've met many people who, in some way, are connected to my home town or the area I live now. It is a small world after all! :flower:

I'm glad you decided to come out of lurkdom to share that story. :flower: Very magical. :goodvibes

Wow, I just drove through Monmouth on my way home to Burlington from the QC Airport, then sat down and read this thread. Also glad you had a great trip, we leave in 1 month and 5 days.

What a wonderful story! And I know exactly how you feel - DS is our miracle baby too and although I loved WDW (DH and I "Disneymooned" there in 1997 and celebrated our 3rd anniversary there in 2000) it really didn't become as magical for me as it is now until we brought DS there when he was 1 for his first trip (2002). Now he loves it as much as we do.

Welcome out of lurkdom!
