In February I booked the Affinia Manhattan hotel thru travelzoo. I reserved a 1 bedroom standard suite for 4 people for $159 a night for April 20-23rd. The hotel is right across the street from Penn Station on the corner of 7th Ave and 31st ST. It is a quick walk to Herald Square as well. We took Megabus from Boston which let us off at 28th/7th Ave and returned from 31st and 8th so great location for Megabus. We got some $1 fairs on megabus. I paid less then $60 round trip for 5 of us (dh came but slept at his father's apartment - we can't all stay there now that he has a live in helper for Alzheimers)

Our room package included breakfast for two. In the Affinia requests page I checked off quiet area. We got a room on the 15th floor and other than occasional noise from the fire station there was almost no street noise. Our room has a bedroom with two queen size beds, a hall with two closets and a small size bathroom. The bedroom had a door that could close. The living room had a double size sofa bed, big closet and a second bathroom complete with shower/tub combo.

There was a kitchen area attached to the living room with a full size fridge, small stove/oven, sink, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. There were also pots, dishes, silverware etc in the room. There isn't a dishwasher. The first night I rinsed out two mugs we brought with us and the next day they were washed by the housekeeper and soap was left.

Things like the wallpaper were old, neither tv was flatscreen etc but the room was very clean. My kids did things like check out the closet floors and they were all clean, no sign of bugs etc. The free breakfast included scrambled eggs, saugage, french toast, bagels, muffins etc. It was nice for two. We took turns since it was $19 for adult/$10 per child. The other two of us would go across the street to Bagel Maven.

So it sounds like you'd give it a :thumbsup2

That is a great price for so much room. It sounds like my family of 5 could even sleep there which is hard to find in NYC. Another convenience is being across from Penn Station because we would likely arrive by train. I will keep this place in mind for next year when we are looking to cruise from NYC and explore NYC and Broadway before our cruise.
