35 minutes!! The roads are a mess!!! I don't think they have even touched any!!!!! I have a Dodge Ram Quad truck.....and NO.....it is NOT 4-wheel drive!!!! I wish I had a sign on the back window informing everyone. Plus, we have the 20" wheels too.....and they are the wide tires too!!!....Doesn't help at all in this mess!!!

We got about 6 inches on the ground now....and it is still coming down heavy!!! Now that I am home.....it is VERY pretty outside!!!!

For me
Normal trip 35 minutes
Today 65 minutes
Still snowing

Glad to hear that you made it home safely ~ although lengthy ride!

It is nice to hear that the east side of the state finally got more snow than us on the west side. I don't think we got quite an inch yet today.........but we got at least 18" last week. It is nice of Mother Nature to share the wealth!

Hope things get better for you..........be careful on the roads tomorrow.

Lisa,

DBIL drives from Milford to Troy and it took him 2.5 hours this a.m.! He told my sister not to wait up tonight! Stay home and snuggle weather! Glad you made it safely. At least it's not so bitterly cold (yet). I miss winter weather. (Even the weather doesn't like to come to Fort Lame! )

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

You are lucky--it didn't start here until around 4 and we'll get about an inch. We've had next to nothing snow wise this year, and what we have had is in the evenings or on weekends so now delays or closings.

this is our first significant snowfall this season......

Sending you guys some Florida Sunshine :sunny:

Beautiful weather here today around 70 same for tomorrow.

Glad you arrived home safe.

It's been snowing all day here. Not sure how much acumulation we have gotten so far. It took about 15 mins. longer to get home from work. But my poor DH is still out there on I-79 working his way home. He just called on his cel and said it will be at least another hour before he makes it home. Glad he called, I was getting worried.

yea...DH just called and is leaving now...he works in Rochester Hills...which is about 30 miles away. On a normal day it takes about 40 minutes...I can just imagine tonight....and he doesn't have a cell on him.....it broke a while back (he dropped it in the lake) and havent replaced it yet....hopefully it won't take him 5X the amount of time like it did me!!!

I tottally feel for ya. My mom called me with a "snow" report I told her t keep it north of the border she didn't listen LOL.

My DH's normal "dry" commute from Southfield to Sterling Heights takes him from 45 mins to 1 hour. Tonight it took him just a little over 3 hours to get home! He called me from 5 miles away to tell me he wasn't that far from home, but that 5 miles still took him an hour!

I'm hoping school is cancelled tomorrow, since the kids only have a 1/2 day anyway. I hate them having to schlep all over the ice for just a 1/2 day of school...not to mention, me worrying whether he got to school safely or not!!

Sorry to hear about your tough ride home.. Only a trace of snow up here in Milwaukee, a bit more at home in SW Michigan. We usually ge so much more than you, yet at the same time our road crews are used to it, so it's not as tough to travel.

Hope you can enjoy the beauty of it until tomorrow's commute.

Gosh that's incredible. To my mind snow is prettty...........I've never been fortunate enough to experience snow falling......tho have seen snow & driven through it with friends who are used to doing so...........but to experience fresh snow falling would be magical;)

I do however feel sorry for you guys who have to travel in it & are delayed due to it.........it seems so unreal to me that's all.:D

My DH works near the Silverdome & his usual drive to Brighton takes about an hour..............last night it was at least doubled!
We do have school today here though.......

They have our schools closed today too (L'anse Creuse district).

Lisa, I was surprised to see your area schools open. My friend is a teacher in East Detroit and he's so bummed to have to go in. We made plans to take the kids sledding thinking that all the schools around here would be closed.

Last night we ate at BW3 in Mt. Clemens and our waitress told us it took her an hour and half to get there from 9 mile & I-94!

It does look very pretty outside. But I would still rather be in Florida! :sunny:

I WISH I could get home in 35 minutes! I live in Florida and it takes me an hour to go 17 miles in GOOD weather.

But, I do remember living up North (PA & NY) and that's the part I hated the most -- it took me 2-3 hours to get home in the snow and ice and I feel for you. Just keep a lot of calming CD's in the car and always have a cell phone with you. Keep warm and I'll send you some FL sunshine --:sunny:

Schools in our area are closed today. Thankfully! Tomorrow is a half day too so I'm hoping that tomorrow will be closed too, but I doubt it. My DH had to go to work today. I was bummed. He left at 6am (starts at 7am) & I was watching the news before he left & some freeways only had one lane salted! They were reporting that lots of roads & freeways were still snow covered & slippery.

Snow is beautiful when it's falling but I wish it would just evaporate once it hit the ground!

I have to tell you about my very kind neighbor.....he was using his snow blower to clean his driveway & then he just came over here & did our driveway, our sidewalk & walkway up to our front porch steps. Then, he came over with his shovel & cleaned all the way to my front door! He works about 3 blocks from home & he said he didn't want my DH to have to face all this cleaning of snow once he got home from his very long commute home. Wasn't that soooooo nice of him??? (And to think, we had thought about moving!!! )

I was VERY surprised also that our schools were open!! The bus was about 1/2 hour late though.

Last night DH got home in about an hour (he left at 7pm).....doesn't seem bad from Rochester Hills but at that time, it should have took him under 1/2 hour. He went to snow blow the drive and walk....and it wouldnt start!!!! He ended up shoveling the drive!! He was really mad! I offered to help but he didn't want me to!

Anyway, I think I have the flu today too!! I was suppose to work. I woke up at 5:30 am and literally spent 1 1/2 hours in the bathroom!!! I feel awful...and actually just got out of bed. Took my temp and it was 95.1!!!! I think that is really weird. Kinda scared me a bit. Mine is always on the low side....but not 95!!! Right now it is 97.2. Anyone know what the low reading means???

It is REALLY cold out today...right now 12 with a windchill of -1. Kinda glad I am still in my pj's and don't have to be outside....
