so a family w/ 2 small kiddos (like us) just moved in across the street. We had them over for dinner and when she saw the kids' Mickey themed plates she started talking about how much the family loves Disney and how they just got back from a stay at AKL. of course i say "hey, i have the timeshare/DVC at AKL" and she says "SO DO I!" of course we squealed a bit and hugged because its always exciting to find another member of our amazing club!

Lol now what would be really funny is if in the next day or so your neighbor responds to this post...

Lucky you.

We have met several people in our area who are members. We have exchanged contact information, just in case someone has points to share in the future. It hasn't happened yet, but you never know.

That's really cool! I always get excited when I meet other DVC members.

So wish I had a neighbor like that. Can't seem to find any other disney addicts. I find myself talking about a past trip or future plans and have to shut myself up - most people just don't get it.:confused3 You guys will have fun talking about upcoming trips!

This made me smile. We just had friends purchase in Hawaii recently and are looking forward to their first trip as owners to WDW in October and Hawaii in March. We answered their questions, but didn't try to push. My DH also works with another guy who owns DVC, and they seem like the type of family that would own DVC (I mean that in a good way). He works with another guy that owns DVC that really took us by surprise because he didn't seem the type. You just never know...

Thats cool. I was talking at work last week about becoming DVC members and 2 other people I work with are DVC members aswell. I t is funny how you don't know until you become one your self. Or you just don't pay attention until then as well. It's a small DVC world after all!

i think this was the best part for me!!! once a month I do a Disney themed afternoon (selected disney movie with dinner/snacks/activities revolving around that movie/theme) so I shared this with the mom and she was so thrilled!!! I think they'll be joining us this weekend for Lion King night! Hello Nala Noodles and Mufasa Meatballs!

I'm so jealous. No one I socialize with is a DVC owner - it would be so great if one of my friends or family members actually owned as well, then I wouldn't be the "obsessed" one. One of my best friends just asked me over the weekend, can you explain to me what exactly it is that makes you so obsessed with Disney? I actually couldn't - because it's not one thing, it's thousands of things. It's my happy place, what I can say? If that makes me obsessed, then call me obsessed.

That is super cool. Here in Oregon, I would love to have a DVC neighbor. Just someone who gets it. I do have a friend who lives in Tacoma who grew up a Disney Baby and is also part of our cult, but she is not a DVC member. BTW, wer'e both in our 40's, so our memories and love of Disney started in the 70's.

I have a guy I work with that went to Florida for years, still does, but must have got sick of listening to me talk about DVC etc. he called me back in Dec. from the DVC office in Florida to let me know he is joining, seriously funny stuff it was on a Saturday and I'm like who is calling me from Florida ahahaha!! Now we always talk about DVC, he even got me the $200 referral bonus (the real reason for the call to get my DVC number to put in to get the referral money). I decked out his office for when he came back to be everything DVC. Now he comes to my office daily to chit chat and for our DVC meeting lol. I wish I knew more people locally, it would be fun.

Not as cool but....

I had my DVC reusable bag at HS graduation the other day (I'm a teacher). One of the students says, "I like your bag." And I say, "I'm glad you know what it means." She did. :)

:thumbsup2 Very cool!

My neighbor, upon first meeting me, said: oh...this is the bible cul-de-sac as all of the men have biblical names. :faint: :scared:

I FINALLY met someone at work who is a Disney freak! I don't think he and his wife are DVC members, but they go to Disney all the time. It all came up because I was whining about not getting to go to "Orlando" during spring break. I don't know why I even bother saying Olrando and don't just take one for the team. :headache: When I say Orlando, it's ALWAYS followed by either, "You mean Disney?" or, "You mean Disney, AGAIN?" But I digress.

He said that he, his wife and kids LOVE Disney. That's all it took, right? We're on a roll talking all things Disney. He's got one up on me, though. Somehow in the conversation, we started talking about how he and his wife, and my hubby and I were high school sweethearts. So he just HAD to throw out there that he proposed to his wife during the fireworks at MK. Ugh! Show off! I'm not the LEAST bit jealous!

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

I guess it could be worse. I am not exagerating, we live on the most bizzare court in America, and my husband has nicknames for almost all of the neighbors. Trust me...probably better to stick with the Biblical names! :rolleyes1

Congrats on your new DVC Neighbor. It is great to have someone to talk all about Disney with. I know you are going to love it and I am lucky enough to have someone who "understands" as well.

My cousin and I have always been huge Disney fans. We generally would only see each other at family events but we would constantly talk about our past/future trips when we were together. As the cousins (and second cousins) got older there were less family events to attend so we didn't talk as much. We ended up touching base over this past Christmas and realized that we had both become BLT members! It was the start of our DVC e-mail frenzy. We generally e-mail several times a week about anything from availibility, resorts, DVC ins and outs etc. By accident we even will be visiting WDW in June at the same time. We are having dinner together in EPCOT. It really is awesome to have some to talk Disney with anytime you want! :goodvibes

Enjoy! :cool1:
