I'm baaaaaa-aack! Ok- maybe not every minute of this report will be neurotic- it is just me. I am neurotic, aniexty ridden and crowd phobic so this outta be interesting! Just keep think in mind when reading some of my posts!
Day one. 9/16 Sat-Yay! We are here. Well- at the airport anyway. Do the DME- no problems AT ALL! Jumped right on. Took a about an hour to get to POFQ- no complaints.
Check in around 12pm- and our room was ready ASAP!- dropped off our carry-on. Room was a beauty!- overlooked a little courtyard Bldg# 6 Room #6318.
PS- YOU GET A FRIDGE IN YOUR ROOM- CLEVERLY DISGUISED AS A PIECE OF FURNITURE
OOOOOOO-----AHHHHHHHH
JUST A NEUROTIC FYI-- AS BEAUTIFUL AS THIS HOTEL WAS- I will never stay here or any other hotel (have been to the All Stars in the past) that shares a bus with ANY other resort. I will go into detail as I post more reports!
Take the bus to AK. No crowds. So far, so good. Of course, must run to EE- 30 minute wait. Oh well- Im waiting! OOOO maybe not- nice gentleman hands us his FASTPASS to ride right now! YAY! Hurry on to the ride- disappointed I didnt get to take in the goodies before the ride- but we will be back. Jump on the ride- it was fun- but everything happened so fast- the fastpass, the ride- running to get on the ride. I didnt get to take it all in. and I will tell you this now I kept saying we need to go back and do EE before we leaveand it never happened! Very sad about that.
DH took this pic from the screen- of course I had to smudge his face- He doesnt like his pic posted anywhere- he is goofy! Well not the character- just weird!
And of course- DH makes me pose with this weird looking blonde person all the while laughing at me--- I am the one on the right leaning on my small monkey child! Like I really had to explain.
We were on the FREE DP! DH is a carnivore- me? a Vegetarian!
Ate at Tusker House- incredible CS 2 thumbs up! Spent about 28.00
· DH had the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken served with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables $7.99 and the Cheesecake $2.99- large drink
· and I had the Vegetable Sandwich $7.29 and the Carrot Cake $3.29 FYI- the unsweetened ice tea in the parks is the best I have ever tasted- if you like unsweetened tea- go for it!
(DH loved his chicken so much we had to come back Monday so he can have it again! He didnt care about the park- he just wanted the chicken again!) and the Veggie Sandwich was one of the best I have ever had!
Walk around a bit- crowds not bad.
Back to the room- YAY- our luggage is there. To tired to unpack- we have ressies for Alfredos @ 6:45 with some friends tonight- a nap sounds good- nighty night.
Met friends at Test Track @ EPCOT- 20 minute wait. A bit surprised about the wait.
Head over to Alfredos for dinner. Seated right away. The Lobby was not overly crowded like I have seen in December. I know some people do not care for Alfredos- but I like it. It is noisy- but not bad. The staff did a little number for all of us- singing about something- cant remember- but cute.
· DH had Pasta e Fagioli - thickest Tuscan bean soup. freshly made with Borlotti beans $6.75, Bistecca di Manzo Alla Pizzaiola - char-grilled 10 oz. sirloin steak served with a caper, oregano and tomato sauce with rosemary roasted potatoes and fresh vegetables. Served medium-rare. $29.95, Tiramisu - lady finger biscuit, espresso coffee, mascarpone cheese, egg brandy, whipped cream $3.95 and a soft drink.
· Me? Misto di Insalate dell 'Orto - a salad of wild greens with sweet grape tomatoes and our Italian raspberry vinaigrette dressing - $5.95 Trittico di Pasta - Lasagna, Ziti with a fresh plum tomato sauce and pasta dumplings stuffed with imported black truffles, mushrooms and cheese $22.95 and for dessert- some kind of chocolate raspberry cake. And (2) sangrias
DH was not crazy about his steak. He didnt say it tasted bad- he said he should have chosen at Osso (get this I will tell you this now- we did happen to go back to eat at Alfredos later in the week and he wanted the OSSO and he was told it is ONLY for 2 people!) We had to wait about 45 minutes for our meal to come out and they told us it was b/c of his steak--- ahhello- we DO have grills at home and we DO cook steaks at home- we certainly do NOT cook them for 45 minutes! It was NOT a fat steak. Nice try though.
Me? I usually get the gnocchi pomadoro- get this they tell me they do not have gnocci anymore! Yes- an Italian restaurant with NO gnocchi! I had to order the Trio- was not in the mood for the heavy Fettuccini Alfredo so I went with this, but of course- the lasagna (#1 of the trio) had meat sauce- ok. Please leave off the lasagna and give me a bit more ziti. Fine! Mmmmmm, Not fine here comes my food- and no lasagna, but they have my ziti topped with .MEAT SAUCE! They take it back- comes back out with a fresh tomato basil sauce---YUMMY! The pasta dumplings and cream sauce were delish!
I will certainly recommend the Sangria here! OMG! It was good- you can taste the honey and the cloves- it was very good.
Even though the messed up with my sauce and DH was not crazy about his steakwe will be back later in the week.
OH- one more thing- the rolls they served were really good except for the 2 VERY hard ones that the kids used to make artwork with- they drew on them with the crayons they were provided with. We were actually going to use them to get our waitresses attention b/c our food was taking so long but we did not want to be charged with homicide!
"ROLL ART" FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
Jus a few other posts I made before doing my trip report in case you want to check them out- But I will cover the topics as I go on. I just cant believe how just posting just one day report is taking so long- I am almost as tired as spening one day in the park just writing this!
