There, I said it. There's been so much negativity about the new system, that I thought it be good to create a "safe environment" for those who enjoy the changes.

Go on, it's okay to like changes. I'm going with my family of 5 at the end of April and already know that we can ride Toy Story Mania in the afternoon, even if my 4 year old sleeps in super late after staying up for the 9pm Wishes show. How cool is that?!?!

I'm going to be able to walk onto ETwB without using up 45 minutes of our valuable morning touring time! We can reserve some great rides in the afternoon when we typically do the crappy rides / shows because of the waits... Previously we'd have to hope that we timed the FP- just right to get a 3:00 slot (which would often mean an otherwise unnecessary trip to tomorrow land late enough that the morning time slots were gone, but early enough that it wasn't pushed out to 7:00pm) that doesn't interfere with our ADR!

I haven't gone yet (trip is coming up in October), but if everything works as it should I think it seems like a fine system.

I'd much rather have 3 set times to ride three rides I select ahead of time, rather than run around the park at rope drop hoping to get paper passes (that I have to keep track of/not lose for hours) so that I might be able to fastpass....five rides that day. or six. which is what most people seem to get under the old system.

I get less fastpasses, sure, but I also get peace of mind, relaxation and can avoid all the running around and backtracking the paper system required.

Sign me up!

Glad to hear it. :thumbsup2

There are some very nice things about FP+, which are better than FP-. I agree. The ability to sleep in, knowing you already have FP's waiting for your favorite rides being one of them. The ability to move FP+ times on the fly is also great (if there is availability)

However, there are also significant negatives versus the old FP-. (limit to 3, tiering, the park queues it's creating, FP+ availability for off site guests)

We used FP+ for 10 days last Sept (onsite) and while FP+ has some great things going for it, the negatives outweighed them for us.

Hopefully you still feel the same way as you do now after you've used FP+ in the parks.

I like the idea of it also. Having to pick what park which day so far out bothers me a bit cause I did like the flexibility of choosing when we got there but hopefully as the bugs get worked out you will be able to change your times a bit easier in the future.

Being able to stay in the park late at night and not have to drag out of bed for rope drop so we were sure to get on the big rides is fantastic.

Ideally I would like to see it changed to 5 FP plusses for a day and whatever rides and wherever you wanted them, any park and more than 1 park a day or if you wanted 5 SM passes go for it.

I think as the roll out goes along you will be able to make more than 1 park in a day but they have to get the system working and get the kinks out before adding to many variable. The technology is only going to get better not worse.

That's a mature way of putting it. I get disheartened when other people post about how they had bad experiences in January--which was REALLY EARLY in the rollout--and have sworn off Disney World forever. That's such an overreaction.

Hello- Texas Crude. We really need a FP+ safe haven....so I think I'm gonna like it here. I do agree with every word you've said.....all good points made. It's why I believe I will like FP+ too. Good job!!!!:thumbsup2

It really is great to reserve ahead. I have used it twice and I will be going again in May. I love that I can even change times in the fly if I need to. Now we get up later, take a swim, and we don't have to rush. My kids can stay up later because they are not exhausted so we can take advantage of the evening EMH when many others are heading out of the parks. So excited to go back :)

I like this. :) Thank you!

...let me just run with the "my name is" theme for a bit...

grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

:littleangel:

I think FP+ is going to work out well for us in June. If for some reason it doesn't, the thing I can change/control is my attitude and whether or not I keep a smile on my face.

I like the idea of FP+ in theory, it just hasn't worked out well for my family in the many times we've used it. I sincerely hope it works perfectly for your family.

I agree though, for Toy Story it worked flawlessly for my family! At MK it's been a bust for us most trips, but I'm still hopeful!

I'm thrilled that there are more positive FP+ threads popping up because I'm genuinely trying to love it. I enjoy reading others plans and trips where it worked well for them so I can try to change my plans and see if it will work out better next time! :thumbsup2

I like them! They worked well for my friends and I when we went in November. It was my first visit but my friends had there numerous times.

I'm not sure why people are saying there's too much planning involved. My friend "planned" almost everything, which goes as far as the hotel, tickets and ADR's. We selected our FP's on the morning of the park visit (even on occasion when we got to the park)....We got good times too......I got to see almost everything I wanted. There were a few things that I missed but I'll be back to see them! :confused3

It'll definitely not be my last visit :)

...and already know that we can ride Toy Story Mania in the afternoon,...
We did not know for certain if we were going to be able to ride TSM in the afternoon (or at all) by way of a Fast Pass, so we hedged our bet and got to the park at RD just to be safe. So no sleeping in for us. And we wanted to ride Rock-n-Roller coaster as well with a minimal wait. Had we slept in and arrived later in the day, even if we had been able to get a FP+ for one of those rides, the line for the other would have been unbearable.
I'm going to be able to walk onto ETwB without using up 45 minutes of our valuable morning touring time!
We arrived at Rope Drop and all FP+ had been distributed for ETwB until 9:15 p.m. which was too late because that is an attraction that is cutest when lots of little kids can participate and we were afraid that we would end up in a group of older kids or adults. So we decided to go to ETwB through the SB line and got a FP+ for a different attraction instead. (Buzz). While the wait was minimal, we did end up using 30 minutes of valuable morning time experiencing that attraction.

So not everyone's experience is the same. There are some scenarios where everything works out great :thumbsup2 and other scenarios where FP+ is no better than (and perhaps worse than) the prior option. Hopefully, this board can help people strategize to make the most use of FP+ and not be accused of "gaming the system" in the process! ;) That is what this board is about after all. Shared experiences that lead to greater knowledge.

We used FP+ at MK on 2/21 & 2/22 and thought it worked great. I was there with the kids at RD but my wife wasn't able to meet us until 1 pm due to a conference she was attending. We hit all of the stuff the kids wanted in the morning and set up our FP+ reservations in the afternoon. We changed a few on the fly and it couldn't have gone any smoother.

I'm happy for you. If that's how you feel, then that's great.

But if you really wanted to keep this thread a safe haven, then you probably shouldn't be snarky and imply that people who don't like FP+ are just afraid of change.

We love to sleep in on vacation and have never made a rope drop so we too loved fast pass + (even though I was very apprehensive going into it). As long as it remains flexible enough to still be able to pick the most popular attraction fast passes the night before I will continue to be a big fan of it. :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to it too! We weren't FP people before, but now we might actually use them. I like to take it easy on my vacation with a loose plan, and FP never seemed to work out how I wanted. i'd get a FP, and then go do other things only to either a: miss my window or b: have to book it across the park to make it or c: lollygag around until it was time. I don't like any of those options, so it was a no joy for me.

With FP+ I can not only plan my park day around it without having to be there at RD only to get a FP for 5:00, but I can also get them for things like parades and dining (BOG to be exact since I can't seem to get a dinner res to save my soul!)

I love that I can RD one park in the morning, and then hop and use FP in the busy afternoon. Or can skip the RD altogether. Love that I can do it all on my phone to change on the fly.

For me, it gives me more options - not less.

I still hasn't gotten over fast passes to begin with. Actually, our fast pass experience is what makes me not want to plan another Disney trip ever but my husband is insisting on one and he is no Disney lover so go figure.

That said, there is plenty I like about fast pass + over the previous system...like not having to be at rope drop for the best times or waiting by a kiosk for a usable time. What I don't like... The fact that the old double line system was way more efficient and there are fast passes to begin with. But hey... It is what it is. I will make it work.

Another here who generally likes FP+. I like vacation flexibility so I don't like setting up too many dining or riding reservations. However, I really didn't like having to send runners to collect FP-. I prefer to set up a few of my favorites and not rush to get there. Also I'm a park hopper who doesn't like RD. by the time I got to a ride in the AM, too often the return times were later in the day or evening when I was going to be at another park or dinner or the pool. So often I just skipped FP- because of this. I'm hoping once out of testing FP+ will even be better. And also got FP for be our guest - otherwise there would be no way I would have waited in that line!

Just back and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I would be singing a different tune though if I had to wait in the extremely long morning kiosk lines to make them.
