My oldest DD 22 just left for 3.5 months to join the College Program at WDW. I KNOW she will have a wonderful time, but my heart is so heavy. Seems such a long time....life has too many 'goodbyes' sometimes :guilty:

Want to come to the movies with me? :grouphug:

:grouphug: Happy Mothers Day.
Don't be sad, sit down at the Dis and plan your first trip down to visit her :smooth:

Amy

Those 3.5 months will fly by before you know it, plus it gives you an excuse to plan a trip down to WDW.

Think of it this way...you must have done a wonderful job as a mother to give her the confidence to go out and try something new. Because of you, she's not afraid to try something different, meet new people, have new experiences.

Do something for yourself today, knowing you have done a great job as a mom, and you will celebrate many mothers days with her to come!

Hugs to you!

Aw shucks, Happy Mother's Day! You can come to my house if you want and we'll cook dinner. Just keep in mind what a wonderful job you must have done to get your daughter as far as she has come.

You are all so sweet,
Thank you for the kind words.

I will come to the movies (how long will it take me to get there??) and I hope I have done an okay job and I told her myself yesterday how very proud I am of her. She is a pretty shy young lady and to do this I think, is pretty brave. I just look so forward to her being home in the summers and the house seems so empty even though I have another DD19!

She and I are very close and my buddy is missing...but you are all right! I am looking as I type at flights and planning my visit! I am thinking half way through?

Thanks as always to my 'dis buds' for being there! :wave2:

You raised a DISNEY kid We can only hope for the same thing .My DD12 says she wants to do the CP when she is old enough.I can't wait I will be down as much and as long as I could.
I was the opposite I did a lot of traveling when DD was young and yes I missed her but that just made the rest of the time together more special ( with gifts from my CA.and FL. trip )on my returns.

Let us all know where she gets assigned and we can give her a DIS hello from MOM when we see her.

My husband and I are going to hold our two girls hostage until they're 30. ;)
Happy mothers day :goodvibes I don't know what I'm going to do when its time for my girls to leave :sad2:

Didn't we see this coming???

INDEED raise a Disney kid! From her very first visit at age 11months and it's been a 'love affair' ever since. I guess I am to blame that she's there?!?!

We do see it coming, but it 'seems' like it never really will? Just like when she got into this program and I was overjoyed for her...seemed far away before she'd actually go. :guilty: I have been looking at her flights online and she is almost there. If money were no object, I would also go for 3.5 months but alas it is, so I will have to go for a hug when I am able.

When she finds out her placement, I will post tmt martins. All we know as of now is that it will likely be a ride somewhere? :confused3

Many hugs to you!!

My mother's day is a little sad too this year because my Grandma passed away 2 months ago :guilty: . I'm glad I have my beautiful girls to help make my day happy. :)

I think it's a combination of things...my Mum passed away three years ago and I feel her so much today and with my daughter going..well, it's just all about goodbyes. I'll be okay and I appreciate all the kindness...I will just think about what a great time she'll have! But I tell you Mom's...hang on to those babies, the time flies all too fast!

awwww, I'm sorry you're sad. That must be tough :guilty: Hang out here with us today :thumbsup2

I remember when mine went -- she was only 19 -- she's 21 now. It's such a wonderful opportunity for them. She came back so grown up.

Happy Mothers' Day!

That time will fly by. I remember when my daughter was a CP. She would call on her cell from all my favorite places in WDW. We talked a lot on the phone. She learned so much being on her own.

Be sure to plan a trip down to see her too.

Aww, that's hard. I remember how hard it was leaving my mom last year when I went on the CP. And it probably will be hard when I leave next Sunday to go on the CP again. But she got through (probably because I have 7 other siblings still at home :teeth: ). It will be fine. BTW, what role does she have? Maybe I will see her down there when I go down (I check in May 24).

All we know at this point is 'Operations' and by her MSN name (I MISSED her buzz me!!! :guilty: ) it appears she is in Vista Way. I guess as the week progresses she will find out where she'll be..

I knew I should have had 6 more children then I would have lots more to keep me busy like your Mom!!! :teeth:

How long are you going for? The full year? That would be tough...for us Mom's! Where will you be?

If you are going back, it must be an awesome time!!!

That is cool. I had/have a lot of friends in operations. Last time I stayed at Chatham, was in merchandise, and absolutely loved it! Now I am going again for 8 months (May 24 to Jan 5). I leave on Sunday the 21. This time around I am going to be a character attendant (I auditioned, but didn't get a role as a character performer. Oh well). I am so excited to be going back! I had such a great time on the CP. I highly recommend it for anyone who is considering it. If I see her, I will definitely help her out.

Thank you!
I spoke to her...she is in an appt with 5 others :rolleyes1 but only 2 girls from Brazil are thre so far. They went out and she sounded kinda lonely..the bus isn't running to 'Walmart' (I understand WM becomes integral to survival on the CP??) so she was planning a walk to Walgreens to get a few things and something to eat. The reception desk in the building closed at 5 and she didn't arrive until 5:45 so not too many questions have been answered or things explained yet. She cannot get on the net...not sure why...but I am sure she'll crash fairly early and tomorrow will be a whole new day! :thumbsup2
