Still miss her. This will be my 5th Christmas without her. She loved Christmas and she loved birthdays. My dad chose to be at my stepmother's home this year for Christmas. They live part of the time here and part of the time in extreme south Alabama. My stepmother tries really hard but all of her family is there so I don't really blame them as I have dh, my in laws, dd and her dh, and ds and his dw. I was an only child so no siblings. Just kind of hit me today on her birthday how truly alone I sometimes feel. Don't want any sympathy. Just the way I feel and felt like sharing. Thanks DIS buddies for listening!

Please know that you are not alone. This is my 6th Christmas without my mom and the 1st without my dad. I, too, am an only child and I'm feeling a little lonely right now. I have my husband and my kids, but there's definitely a little something missing. My mind keeps going back to all the Christmas's I had growing up. I can't believe I've gotten to this point in my life where I have no parents left. In my mind, I'm still 15 years old.;)

Merry Christmas!!

We never want sympathy, Boots, but there's nothing like empathy.. or knowing what you're going through because someone's been there!

My Mom would've been 78 in January 2004. I cannot tell you the hole she left in my soul but you know that. Mothers complete us and they never truly leave us. They are always a part of us.

Hang in there. This is my second without my Mom and first without my Dad. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to lose my mind then God talks me down from my fit. It's what He does.

God bless, Boots. Let me know if you need a shoulder who knows.

Boots, I still miss my Dad and he has been gone 9 years. He would have been 75. Just out of the blue he will creep into my thoughts. A calm, peaceful feeling washes over me. I wish my children could have known him. I try to tell them stories about their grandfather who was such a funny character.

I hope tomorrow is a brighter day.

This is my 21st Christmas without my Mom. Still hard. I still miss her. Guess it never goes away. I have dh and 2 beautiful dd and their friends but there is nothing the same as Mom

I'm 54 years old....and I still miss my "Daddy" so much... :(

Hugs to all who are missing a loved one...

{{{HUGS}}} to you Ellen and all others missing loved ones. This marks my 10th Christmas without my mom. She loved Christmas so much... makes it really hard... I'm only 26 and I wonder if I will ever stop missing her the way I do.

My mom's birthday just passed, she would have been 61. She has been gone for 8 Christmases, my Dad for 15. :(

Its very tough to navigate life without one's parents. When you lose your parents there is no one to be truly and genuinely proud of you, as only a parent can. :(

Wishing you a warm and lovely Christmas, Boots, in spite of your loss. I hope your happy memories of your Mom can carry you through the season.

This is my 3rd Christmas without my Dad. :( {{{HUGS}}} Ellen. You are so good at giving {{{HUGS}}}, Ellen.:D

Boots, Hugs! We're here anytime you're down!:D

Boots my thoughts are with you.

As joyous as Christmas is, it's a time of sadness for so many who have lost loved ones. This is the second year without my brother, and the grief of his loss is still there daily. As I start to prepare for the holidays so many little things bring lost loved ones to mind. A cookie recipe that my DH's Grandma made. A SIL who always made the cookie. My FIL who loved so many of the Holiday Dishes. A very special Uncle. My own Mom and Dad. My brother and several of my closest HS Friends. The sadness is a Granddaughter who never got to know Christmas.

They are all just memories now, sometimes with a smile remembering a fond moment, sometimes with a tear. All were a part of my life, and all are missed and not forgotten.

A special {{{Hug}}} for you this holiday season. I feel your loss.

I'm sorry you're missing your Mom.
