It’s 8:45 and I’m waiting to be let into the DHS temperature screening. Here’s how it’s gone so far!

I’m staying at Pop Century but opted out of traveling via Skyliner. Instead, I made a 7:50 ADR at Trattoria al Forno and drove to the Boardwalk.

I parked at the Boardwalk at 7:30. The guard did check my ADR. It was very quiet.

I checked in at Trattoria at 7:39. I requested an outside table and was seated immediately. I mentioned that I was planning on getting to DHS as early as possible and asked the server to please bring the check with the food. It was no problem.

My breakfast came out quickly followed by the check. I had the Avocado Toast and iced tea.

The Avocado Toast was okay, the chickpea “scramble” seriously needed spices, peppers or something and there was a lot of it. The menu said there would be peppers and mushrooms (note the plurals) but all I saw was two sad little slivers of mushroom, not enough to make one decent one, and a few little bits of pepper. The focaccia toast was very tasty. The avocado was pretty much a purée but did add some spice to what would otherwise have been a very bland dish.

I finished up by 8:05 and walked over to DHS. It took about 10 minutes and I only saw joggers and one family along the way.

I would guess there about a dozen people ahead of me. No buses or Skyliner arrivals.

At 8:44 we were “walked” over to the tents, social distancing pretty much broke down here. Still no Skyliner or buses.

It’s getting busy FAST! The crowd has at least quadrupled since the buses began.image.jpg

Temperature screening opened at 9:12 and it was pretty much a straight shot onto Runaway Railway from there.

I entered the queue at 9:16 and was off the ride at 9:26.

Slinky Dog was next. The posted wait for Slinky Dog was posted at 45 minutes. I got in line at 9:32 and was done at 9:55.

Toy Story had a 5 minute posted queue, I waited 9. I noticed that the grab it yourself glasses bin was in use, not a fan.

By now it was 10:20 and time to head back to Boardwalk. I took the long way through Galaxy’s Edge. I‘m not a Star Wars fan and didn’t even try for Rise of the Resistance this morning but I enjoy the theming and LOVE the people watching here.

It was getting pretty crowded so I left the park around 10:30(ish). I have another DHS day set aside for Tower of Terror and Rock-n-Roller Coaster. Today‘s plan was to walk back to the car but a boat was just pulling up so I decided to ride. I was a little surprised at the number of people getting off, the boat looked pretty full, considering.

People were still pouring in at 10:30.

I was a little late getting back to my car but I wasn’t worried about it. I wasn’t told that there was a time limit, the vast Boardwalk lot was, maybe, 1/4 filled and I parked near the back.

Back at Pop I took a shower and had gumbo that I‘d brought from home for lunch. I’ll head back to the Studios via Skyliner in a bit. I want to have a drink or two!

All in all, I was pleased with my morning. I’m avoiding longer lines right now and the whole Trattoria breakfast/walk to DHS worked really well. The majority of my waiting was done before the park opened in wide open areas where I was able to easily keep my distance. My breakfast was $23 with my AP discount and a nice tip for the server who was great. I would absolutely do this again, maybe order something different or ask for some Tabasco sauce for this Louisiana girl.
